We had to pay daily for every day there, no paying a week in advance, and it's expensive camping with hookups. The rangers were nice and helpful.

During a recent trip to Pueblo, I took a drive out to Lake Pueblo. A short drive from Pueblo and I-25, the Lake or Reservoir was beautiful. Taking the North side route, one is offered views of the entire lake. Some shores meeting level ground and others cut-off by cliffs and rocks. A nice view indeed. From my vantage points, it appeared there were 3 marinas, at least one was full service, lots of boats and a good number of sail boats. My bet, during summer months, this lake is busy. If you have the time, take the drive, if it's warm, take a swim.

Over the past two years, water levels have been low due to dam repairs, and low runoff. The dam is nearly finished, and the snow has returned to the area. The higher water levels are improving access to fishing areas and shorelines. A local fisherman said the state is keeping more water now; and the lake is refilling nicely. The southside bluffs near the campgrounds make great hiking. From the parking lot, it doesn't look like there is much to see. A short walk proves otherwise. I enjoyed the walking hike I took.Other improvments are being made as more state money becomes available. It looks like the swimming area below the dam has been cleaned up quite a bit. Also there is improved handicapped fishing access at Anticline Pond below the dam.

Love going to lake Pueblo. The water is great and the people are awesome. In the summer we are there every day!

Needing to burn off the Stuffed Sopapillas from lunch, I spent the afternoon at Lake Pueblo State Park. The Park is located about 15-20 minutes West of I-25 on the southern side of Pueblo. Entry fee for Day Use is $7.00. There is a self-pay station, but you'll need cash. There appear to be many miles of hiking/biking trails in the Park. Staff at the Visitor Center recommended a trail on the East side near the Swimming Beach. Most of the trail was asphalt with sections along the river being dirt. The trails were well maintained and there were tons of picnic spots in the area. Fishing was obviously popular along the river as was walking. A visit here is a great way to spend an afternoon. Crowds were minimal today, but I'm sure the place is very busy in the summer months. I plan to return this summer to find out.

A very scenic state park offering miles of hiking and biking trails in addition to a marina. Try the trout fishing below the dam!

Tranquility at its best. What a place to escape to and enjoy the beauty of a water experience. Great marinas easy access and not too crowded. This is why you own a boat or a jetski!

Spent the day here with plenty to do. Facilities were nice with lots to do. I highly recommend a day hike. The scenery was spectacular. Will visit again.

Pueblo Lake and surroundings is a great place to go if you have a boat, jet skis, love heat and high winds. It was okay for our 4-day trip, but probably won't go there again as ... we don't have a boat or jet skis, don't like heat, don't like high winds!

We loved the drive through the property. Purchased an annual state park pass. we saw rabbits and other beautiful creatures a few lizards too. The river and surrounding mountains were quiet beautiful as well. The guys working the gates were awesome, very friendly and provided lots of information. Both on separate days were well groomed which appeared as though they really worked there. The rock formations, trees and bushes are really cool. I loved the wild grapes. I love the sunsets there too. Great place for entire family with picnic tables. The deer come into the park right at sunset. Also there is a fish hatchery here, you can buy fish food and feed them, its exciting.

If you are looking for a place to spend the day with friends and family that is inexpensive it's right in your back yard if you live in Pueblo County.I would have given it five stars but for those with boats and jet skies it can take a bit of time to launch because of the inspections.

Well, this is my swan song for the Colorado State Parks. I have visited 2/3rd of them... this being #28 of the 42 they have. I am now heading out of the State back to my home.. and have thoroughly enjoyed my time. It ends bittersweet for me.. in Aug. of 2014. It's the first place where I have been "skunked" fishing.. meaning I caught nothing.. which was the same for everyone else here today. Everyone says they just seem to not be biting anymore... and thus my first (Colorado) State Park where I didn't catch something. OH, well. Pueblo (reservoir) State Park has something for everyone. Definitely a family place.. and a haven for boaters. While in the Visitor Center, the gentleman there told me it was both, a place for beginning campers to "cut their teeth" and a place advanced outdoors people would appreciate.. and he was dead on the nail. While it's not the most scenic place.. it's definitely has the "out of town" feel, though practically in Pueblo and Pueblo West. To say the place is huge would be an understatement. There are more than enough camping places for a mass horde. Arkansas Point seems to be the premier place, but check in the visitor center for details. There's swimming places, fishing places, lots of boat ramps and excellent facilities. Plan your trip if you're coming here, or it could be overwhelming with offerings. I could go on all day about this place.. it's hiking trails, the people, volunteers, staff, and overabundance of rangers.. but they keep the place running smoothly. I was indeed bummed the fish hatchery was closed, but that place really doesn't have anything to do with the park.If you go here, visit the website and plan. (Just one sad thing to say about the park.. and the park supervisor needs to pay heed.. someone in Arkansas Point campground is using a high beam light to blind people. Rangers need to get off their buff and find out who is doing it. They blinded me.. and I stopped my car. i was going to go over there and yank it out of their hands.. even if it was a ranger or park host.. as you know how dangerous to blind someone driving? I could have hit someone .. even a child. It is a crowded campsite and such actions should not be tolerated. Are they going to wait until some is hurt before they do something? I wish I could have found out who it was.. but they turned it off when I stopped my car.)but other than that little incident.. and though I didn't catch anything for the first time.. it was still enjoyable and impressive. I think you will find it that way also.

We had a great campsite in the Yucca Flats part of the park. Such a beautiful view of the lake and beyond and the mountains in the distance. We really appreciated the permanent wind shelter about the metal table. The bathrooms were clean. There were showers, washers, dryers, soda machine and a change maker to get the necessary quarters.Neighboring campers were respectful. One family rescued our screen that had blown away and secured it for our return! Our site was lovely and quiet. We really enjoyed our time there!

We always have a cookout at Lake Pueblo every year for our family reunion. The facilities are nice and we always have a good time. I've never swam in the lake or taken a boat out so I cannot speak to those aspects, but I've seen dozens of other people out on the lake and it looks very calm and peaceful.

We tried to go into Pueblo State Park but could not find an entrance. We followed the posted signs but they lead us through a neighborhood. We saw the lake from afar butt never figured out how to get there. When we used Google Maps, it did not have a park entrance either. We ended up on a gravel road that led to nowhere. You can not swim in the lake only in the reservoir and the reservoir swimming closes at 5:00.
