eleven mile state park

My and I wife spent the day at Eleven Mile Canyon for our 41st Anniversary. We wanted to spend the day in a beautiful setting not far from home. The canyon experience did not let us down. We took beautiful pictures of the stream and surrounding geography in the canyon and found a nice spot for a picnic lunch. There were rock climbers and fishermen abound. The weather was perfect! A very relaxing day. There are plenty of camp sites and picnic areas. Definitely worth the $6.00 fee admission per vehicle.

My son and I stayed for a week in Rocky Ridge D (electrical #85). We tent camped, which was very ambitious, because it was very windy (like gale force winds)! We have a Taj Ma Tent, very large and keeping that bad boy staked to the ground required regular supervision. Enough about my poor tent choice! 11 Mile was beautiful! The resevoir was lovely! My son and i kayaked while we were there and the Marina staff were wonderful! The view of the mountains were incredible and we saw the most beautiful lightening storm while we were there last week! I had absolutely no problems with any staff, they were awesome from the time we checked in until the time we left! I was worried about bears... but saw none... now i wish i had! Stunning place that offered so much it was a great place for my son and I to go and "chillax" Can't wait to go back!

We rented a pontoon boat and had a lovely day on the lake. It is amazing to just float around and have the mountains around and it is peaceful and scerene. If you rent a boat get there at least 30 minutes early cause the office staff is a bit slow and you have to fill out paperwork, etc. Definately make a reservation prior too! 4 hrs $175 plus gas not bad for 8 people

Stunning views as you picnic along a gorgeous stream in 11 mile canyon. This was the highlight of our trip. Our kids are 8,11,14,15 and they loved the rock climbing, hiking, and wading in the water. If you like to fish there is plenty of that. There were no tourists. It is a fantastic place to go to relax and enjoy the scenery. It ranks up there as one of the most scenic areas we have visited in Colorado. There are grills to cook out on and a few people camping in the area. I highly recommend it!

Great for boating and camping although windy at times. Water is probably too cold for skiing. Great fishing as well with Eleven Mile Canyon close by.

I enjoy Eleven Mile Reservoir and have been coming here for over 20 years. We took the fishing boat out over the July 4th holiday and unfortunately hit a rock submerged underneath the surface and not visible to the eye. It damaged our motor and we lost the cowling hood, which is now somewhere on the bottom of the lake. We also damaged the prop and the point of the lower shaft. Very disappointing that the local park rangers aren't better about putting markers or buoys where rocks are lurking. I had a few words about that with the ranger at the boat inspection station, who told us "most people don't come here because it's too rocky... they go to Spinney." I call malarky on that, as Eleven Mile is vast and the water level is pleasantly not low compared to other large lakes in Colorado during our present drought. So if you're heading this way to go boating, take heed. Use your fish finder to look for the rocks that are dangerously high but cannot being seen with the naked eye. Steer clear from "bird island," where the gulls gather, squawk and poop. About 20-30 yards or so out from the northern side of the island is where we hit the rock that caused our boat damage. And be sure to get to the lake early, as the winds come in like clockwork at 11 am, making the water choppy. There is usually an afternoon rainstorm as well. We had a wonderful time pulling up to the shore and having a picnic, looking for crawdads, and enjoying the water. It's a gem of a lake, despite its quirks. You can rent boats there as well.

What a great place for spending time fishing, soaking in the water, hiking, or climbing. Plenty of room to find a special spot to spend the day. Great place to take the dog.

Staying with friends that live in Manitou Springs, they brought us here stating it was one of their favorite spots. We enjoyed our day out here immensely. We spent our time in Eleven Mile Canyon where we cooked outdoors, hiked the terrain with our buddy's dog, and just explored the area. It is an absolutely gorgeous area surrounded by dramatic terrain, beautiful trees, and a gorgeous river that was still patchy with ice. We were the only people around which just added to the serene beauty of the area. If you are in Manitou Springs or any other nearby town, definitely come through here. This would be a fantastic place to camp as well. Natural beauty abounds!

Friends reserved a camp site in Eleven Mile State Park and we had the best weekend. We were within walking distance of great climbing and fishing. The staff were pleasant and professional and the campground was clean and well-maintainedThe whole weekend was a great getaway for a climber who wants to have access to a range of difficulty - including some really classic routes.

I visited this campgound on the advise of a friend. I was looking for a place where I could fish, hike, take the dogs and hang out. This fit the bill. Couldn't have been happier. We had wonderful weather (I think that is the norm for Colorado) and great success on the Platt River trout fishing. We will be back! There is a fee for the campsites, but they are worth it. The campsite that I stayed at had restrooms (which were clean and well stocked), but no showers. The campsite had water, and the camp host sold firewood for $5 a bundle. Dogs must be on a leash at all times, so bring a long tie-out or rope. The site where I camped allowed 8 people per campsite. Good to know when camping with a group of friends.
