such a great thing to do if you are in Colorado. We were there last year around Valentines Day, and had a blast. Great people, wonderful ride through the beautiful snow, and the dinner was superb. Looking forward to going back!

In the Vail Valley there are quite a few dinner places that take you up the mountain on an open air "sleigh" ride, but they are mostly pulled by snow cats, making a lot of noise and you are breathing in the exhaust fumes all the way there. Bearcat Stables offers real horse drawn sleigh rides and dinner in a cute little cabin, in the winter. In the summer you can also have dinner and go on a horseback ride and enjoy music and more. They are located about 20 minutes from Beaver Creek and once you are there, you feel like you are miles and miles from anything - just beautiful.

If this wasn't one of the planned activities during our trip, I wouldn't have thought about going. However, it was fun! The guide was very knowledgeable about the area during your 25 minute ride. You'll learn a lot about Colorado's history and about horses too. The food provided after was great! However, I'm not sure it was catered by our activity planning group or provided by the owners. Either way, highly recommended!

Our family took the sleigh ride (no dinner) and it was great. We have little kids in our group (all under 5) and they loved it! The views were pretty and it was great to get some info about the area and the horses from the guide. I would definitely recommend this for families in the winter. Be sure to dress warm!

The cabin was beautiful, set off the road and lit by Christmas lights and the roaring fire. Everyone was nice and friendly (except one of the two food servers who was brusque) but it seemed a better idea than the experience. We were two families with teen/preteens. The horse drawn sleigh hardly got out of sight of the cabin and it moved so slowly under the weight of so many riders. We were lucky to see stars out that cold, cold night but we really thought we might feel like we were on a sleigh ride. (Silly?) The dinner was OK tasting but not a great selection and it was clear they were running out of food by the second dinner sitting. (Plated dinner might have been better with a couple of choices.) We wanted so much to love the evening, ringing in 2015, but it was hard not to feel like the evening was about 30 percent of what they intended. Ah well.

Had a wonderful evening here with our parents and two young children (4&7). The sleigh ride is mellow and is just long enough for young children. It doesn't go far from the ranch. The staff is very friendly and works well with all types of customers. The food, we found to be well prepared, hearty, and was liked by our entire group. It's a ranch, so if you want fussy food, go somewhere else. The food is brought in, as there is no running water at the ranch. Having been to many of the other local ranches, the food here is by far the best. Kids enjoyed playing outside in the snow, petting the horses and enjoying a beautiful snowy night. Both kids want to return in the summer.

We were looking for a romantic and new thing to try on Christmas Eve in the Vail Valley. This is not an easy thing for us since I grew up in Vail in the late 60's, 70's & 80's. Bearcat Stables and our private One Horse Open Sleigh ride, however, was just the ticket!! Everyone was incredibly nice and our private sleigh ride was perfect! The food was outstanding and our private "dinner for 2" was perfect as we took the only 2 seats at Doc's bar. Our horse, Wyatt, was an outstanding host in our "one horse open sleigh!" 'Oh what fun' is RIGHT!! You all made our Christmas Eve perfect! Thank You!!!!!!!

Really nice farm in a small valley surrounded by people with too much money. Dinner was great, servers and staff very friendly. Sleigh ride could use some design but it was a real countryside horse drawn sleigh. God Bless Doc.

My wife and I purchased a Groupon for this ride and it was great. Nicole out guide was very friend and talkative give us information about the area and the history behind the ranch. The trail we were on took us up the mountain side so we could look over the valley and see how the elk were using the are for their migration. The leaves were just starting to change which added to the beauty. I have read other reviews about this ranch saying it was terrible but we had a great time so I'm not sure why some others didn't like it here. I recommend going here and if they have a Groupon available get it as they have no problem accepting them and do not treat you any different because of it.

After reading other reviews, we decided on this stable over Breckenridge Stables. Our ride included my husband who was a bit nervous to get back on a horse after many years of not riding, our 19 year son who had NEVER ridden, our 12 year daughter & 16 year old son who've only ridden in a family-owned horse setting and myself. All of us rated this ride as one of the top experiences we had as part of a 6 day stay in Breckenridge! Our lead rider/your staff person (Keeley I believe), was great! She made all of us feel comfortable and confident about getting on our horses and riding. The trail was incredible...you REALLY do go UP in the mountain! She took a family photo for us during the ride, too. Very cool. We'd ride with you again for sure and do recommend BearCat for those in your area FOR SURE!

We went on a 3-hour backcountry ride with Becky. The group was small enough that we could chat with others on the ride and Becky shared a lot of information about the area and plants. The trail was gorgeous and the horses were all healthy and well-cared for. Sometimes on these trail rides it's very boring and more like a pony ride at the fair. Not so with Bearcat Stables! They offer a variety of rides for different levels of experience, as well as for time commitments. The one addition I would ask for is a break during the ride, on one of the plateaus, to dismount and walk around, have a small snack, etc. Be sure to bring your own water. They have saddlebags that can hold a handful of items.

This was a wonderful 90 minute horseback ride. Not a commercial "let's throw 15 people together and take a walk around the park". The horses were laid back and the trails with mountain views were incredible. The groups are kept to a max of 8, and that is important. Our two daughters loved the ride as well. A shout out to our guide Casey, who told us tails of his rodeo life and to Nicole (and her puppy) for making everything run so smooth. We'll be back next year.

We had a 1/2 day backcountry trail with Becky as our guide. It was a great trail with awesome scenery of Vail-area of Colorado. Nice not to be nose to tail and some loping areas. You don't realize how high up "you" climbed, until you're back down and look up to where you've been. There's been mention about a cliff, not too bad, really. Becky had a great spot and took the time to take photos for our Christmas card. Thank you for a great day.

Casey was an amazing wrangler! He chatted with our son on the entire ride and never seemed to be bothered by the stories or questions for the entire BEAUTIFUL 1 hour and 30 minute ride. It was truly the best riding experience we have ever been on.

We had a blast at their Tuesday night riding/ dinner. My 5 year-old said it was better than Disney because she got to ride a real horse :) Food was great, drinks were great and my 7 year old had a great time on her first real ride. Everyone was friendly. Great family night in CO! Thank you!!!!
