This is a golf course you should play. Set in the middle of the mesas you'd have no idea this course is there. The pro shop is small and there isn't staff to load and unload your clubs to carts, etc. They have a small place inside to grab something to eat. Green fees were $57 with cart. A fun golf course to play and was in good shape. Would play it again while in the area.

If you appreciate the game, you'll love this course. Amazing holes with well kept fairways and greens. One of those courses that makes you wish you lived in Delta Colorado so you could be a member!

My nephew and I made a Western Colorado golf road trip in late July 2014. We thoroughly enjoyed playing Devil's Thumb 18 holes late in the day following 18 in the AM in Grand Junction. The course was in fine condition and we were able to play at a nice, fast pace......in spite of the fact I couldn't stop shooting photos of all the beautiful scenery. The layout is loads of fun. Several holes are traditional almost links style golf. Then some like 4 and 13 are classic Rick Phelps designed beauties played from elevated tees. The staff was super friendly and happy to let us play late in the day.We definitely want to get back to play it again. Maybe even a 36 hole day at Devil's Thumb because we a certain we'd play it better the second round.

All around great experience! Easy to get a tee time, friendly staff & BEAUTIFUL course. The course was in tremendous shape & the elevated tee boxes/holes were quite spectacular. Challenging golf course, but you leave there saying "I want another shot at that course"! Never had to wait... Quick round of golf! We stayed in Montrose, but not a very long drive from there to Delta. Without a doubt will play here again.

this is really a fun golf course. it's not heavily played, easy to get on, and cost friendly. i booked my time through golfnow.com. i found it to be a very relaxing golf experience. the course is challenging but not to the point that you want to quit before you start. it's a good blue collar golfers course. play it, you won't be disapointed.

A challenging course but fun for all abilities. The staff were relaxed and friendly. The course plays long so don't be afraid to pick up your ball and move on. There is always something new on the next hole!

Always fun to go for a round of golf at this course. It's not the easiest course but it is one of my favorite.

This is a course we have always wanted to play. Ended up playing Devil's Thumb twice because we had so much fun the first time. Elevated holes on both the front and back nine with beautiful scenery of the Grand Mesa, the San Juans and the valley where the towns of Delta and Montrose are located. The course is set on a high plateau and reminded me of being in the Badlands. This is really an awesome course. Greens were in great shape. No houses around ~ just wide open space with lots of lizards and a first for me, antelope on the course. Anyone wanting a great golf experience, go to Devil's Thumb. The folks at the course are friendly and very welcoming as well. Can't wait to golf there again!

This course sits on a high, barren plateau at the base of the Grand Mesa in Western Colorado. This area is considered "high desert" with low natural rainfall, and this course has almost NO TREES. But the fairways and greens are excellent-beautifully green and well kept, considering the harsh nature of the area. The terrain and lay-out of the course make some of the holes very challenging, but the views from every part of the course are spectacular. The Grand Mesa on one side, West Elk Mountains and Raggeds on another and the San Juan Range in the distance. Makes the golf game secondary to the breathtaking experience of Devil's Thumb. I don't even play golf, but I love riding around this course with my husband! Even though we are locals, I never tire of this unique golf course. And the small clubhouse is lovely and comfortable with a good and tasty food service.

I love elevated tee boxes and if you do, you should play this course. There are some holes unlike most other courses. I found it challenging but not so much as to not be playable for a high handicap golfer. I go out of my way to get to this course!
