My husband and I did a one-hour ride with Marie and her daughter at Bear Mountain Stables. Thanks to the perfect weather and the great scenery, we enjoyed it very much! The horses were well-trained and easy to handle. Although the trail is considered to be for novices, I found it more difficult than the one other time we went riding in California. The trail goes up and down, through trees, and across rocks - a little scary at times, but also very exhilarating. After the first 1/2 hour of riding, I felt like I really had control of the horse and how to maneuver him and I was able to relax and enjoy it more. Marie and her daughter are very friendly and very much concerned for their riders' safety. Riding with them was a wonderful experience, and I would do it again in a heartbeat.

Bear Mountain was recommended by Meadow Creek Lodge. We took the 1 1/2 hr ride. Marie was nice and informative and helpful. They have a great set up, nice horses along with a scenic ride. We rode up into the mountain and crisscrossed trails back and forth and up and down. We were hoping to see some wildlife, but not on this day. Weather was great! We wish there might have been more to see like a water crossing and maybe a meadow crossing where you might run the horses a bit. The trails were nice, the trees and rocks beautiful. All in all, a good ride.
