Spent the weekend with my family, was a great place to be, clean, friendly, and was very relaxing. Recommend to go when it is snowing, amazing!

This is not your average swimming pool. While this area is a little difficult to find , once you are there the drive is well worth the scenery. This pool is a hot springs pool with vistas of mountains and deserts surrounding it. There is also a hot tub and a roof covered children's pool. The only drawback is that the Sand Dunes Pool is usually crowded unless you get there early in the morning. Call for opening times.

The pool was clean and very well maintained. It looks like they are doing some upgrading and construction too. We just stopped in for a couple hours but will give it a full afternoon when we come back through. Worth the drive!

Great place for families. Kids love the sand and the water! hard to get camping reservations. Must do this early in January. The river is running during the first part of June. Go then so that you can wade in the water.

Crtstal clear hot spring water in an Olympic size pool, a wonderful hot tub, a delicious little snack bar with excellent sandwiches, salads, and other goodies, and a great view of the mountains all make for a great day out alone, with friends, or the family. It's especially fun to be in the nice, warm pool when it's snowing.

My family and I have been coming to this artesian hot springs for many years. The facility has been substantially upgraded, and is very clean and modern. The water is warm, very warm, but that is the attraction. The pool is about 45 x 80, with a large deep end and a kiddie pool, as well as a hotter therapy pool. The water drains out of the pool into a little stream that kids love to play in. For the first time, I stayed in one of the mini-cabins. They are very small, basic, and clean... with only a sink, and a porta potti outside and small wood grills. The sunset from the cabin porch was wonderful. I did find I am a bit spoiled and about 20 years too old to stay in a cabin without a bathroom! I strongly recommend the Dunes Pool for families. Remember when planning, it is closed for cleaning on Thursday....

I felt like I just landed on another planet. The dunes are much bigger when you're standing next to them. Its like walking on Mars. The view is spectacular. If you like hiking--there are many types of hikes to take in this park. You can walk the dunes, which is challenging but totally worth it! You can walk to Zapata Falls which is gorgeous and magical. Or you can just hike around the various trails to spot some mule deer and vibrant birds.

We had 6 of us on this trip. Two couples in their campers and two of us in a tent. The campground was fine, other than the tent sites being very close together. Nice that they are on grass. The high dirt berms did nothing to stop the windy Saturday night we had! The bath/laundry house was nice and clean, but can only handle two at a time. Definitely not enough bathrooms/showers! Ladies can take a few minutes to do hair, makeup, etc. after camping, so it seems ridiculous to take up a huge bathroom/shower when all I needed was a sink and mirror. The swimming pool and therapy pool are awesome! Water in the main pool not too hot for children as another reviewer posted. On our trip, there were many toddlers and youngsters in the shallow end having a blast. The therapy pool was definitely hot, but did the job and you only needed to soak 5 or 10 minutes. The cafe/snack bar had a big variety and was reasonable.

We truly enjoyed our visit to Sand Dunes Pool and Recreation. The place is very well-kept and just great fun for a change after a long drive or hiking. The snack bar is adequate and all the staff are friendly and helpful.

This is an amazing place to visit. We consider this a destination location. The Great Sand Dunes are within view and Alamosa Colorado is close. Awesome tent camping with grass and raised burms to protect you from the wind. Several pull through RV sites with electricity only. Now to the fun stuff the pool is clean, inviting warm and great fun. How long can you stay in the pool that is 98 degrees? We arrange our trips to hit the pool around 7 p.m. Since it is open till 10 p.m. What a great time of day to enjoy the warm water. The gift shop and kitchen is really good.Try it for a few hours, you will not be disappointed.

The temperature of the water was in the high 90's which is great for relaxing but a tad too hot for children to frolic in. The food available at the concession stand was comparable to what you would find at most ball parks. We rented the cabana which was a storage shed with 8 chairs, 2 tables, and 6 bar stools. Although the cabana was pricey, it was worth the experience.

What a wonderful, relaxing day for all. We stopped by just after visiting the dunes. Bath warm water. Great!

They use the water from a hot spring yo fill the pool and hot tub. I believe the pool was 97 and the hot tub was 107 when we were there. The hot tub or therapy pool was super hot. I think it would be really nice in the winter. Its covered as well and adult only. The pool itself was nice and different. Its shallow enough in parts for kids who don't swim and deep enough to support the two diving boards. There is a slide into a stream out back as well. You pay whether you are swimming or not. You can bring your own food but they do have a nice grill there. Overall we would do it again if in the area but would not make a special trip.

The pool was perfect for our twin four-year-olds! The water was warm, a fun slide, different depths of water. The food was great. There was a place to air up your floaties for free and a spin dry for your suit. Plenty of chairs. It was great!

This was the second time we have visited this place while vacationing in the area. It's a really nice break in the routine of sightseeing. The water is wonderful, relaxing and warm! They even have a pretty good food at the snack bar. We like to go here on the last day of our vacation in the area just to relax. Beautiful!
