The visitor center is the host facility for the WDVX radio station that stages live, FREE concerts at noon Monday through Saturday. Most people from Knoxville are unaware or apathetic toward this exceptional venue, so visitors can almost always get a seat (and free parking). WDVX gets some truly exceptional talent at these shows, many of whom get free publicity for their weekend gigs around Knoxville. Check the schedule on line (WDVX). The visitor center also gets great talent at First Friday (usually at 7:00 p.m. the first Friday of each month).

Not just a visitor center. Includes gift shop featuring local artists. Also don't miss the live music courtesy of WDVX's Blueplate Special on weekdays.

Went in with my daughters to find out more about the city we had just moved to. The fellas working in the center were very helpful. We came away with a lot of interesting reading and tickets to house tour the local historic houses. Definitely stop in!

What a wonderful resource for travelers visiting Knoxville for the first time. Heading the advice of other reviewers we timed our arrival around noon, after an easy drive from Sevierville. We got to watch the Blue Plate special of the day, which was fabulous, a guitarist native of Japan was a special treat for us. The parking permit, the walking map and all the suggestions they offered from restaurant ideas to tourist attractions were most helpful. Great way to start your visit, don't miss.

The Blue Plate Special is a free lunch time music concert broadcast by National Public Radio. Enjoyed both sets of performers. It was a great experience enhanced by the interview. Friendly staff directed us to several points of interest and restaurant choices. They extended our free parking pass to allow us to explore downtown Knoxville. Highly recommended.

Every day at noon they have a Blue Plate Special..this is a local band and they play for 30-45 minutes. Also, can tell you all about the area.

Must go here to get insight into all that is happening in the area. Live music at noon time on most weekdays and tremendously helpful staff "manning" (I guess I can say Manning in TN) the center.

Some fun Knoxville swag, lots of helpful info, and clean restrooms. Worth stopping by if it's your first visit.

We were lucky to catch the free "Blue Plate Special" two live acts broadcast on a local radio station (WDVX 89.9 FM) six days a week (Mon-Sat) at noon. Excellent diverse music - heard "Adron" mellow tropical sounds, followed by the "Mountain Jacks" bluegrass band. There was also a nice selection of Tennessee souvenirs and hand crafted items.

The Knoxville Visitor's Center is strategically located at the corner of Summit Hill Drive and Knoxville's man downtown street, Gay Street. Not only do they provide more than ample info on all kinds of events and sites but at noon every day except Sunday there is a one hour free music presentation with two artists or groups generally performing. Free parking is provided.

Bet you can't see it all in one day! There is so much fascinating information in this information center. Definitely worth spending some time here before exploring the rest of Knoxville.

I was traveling alone and the staff were really helpful - suggesting places to see and where to park inexpensively. I returned at lunch for the live "Blue Plate Special" concert, broadcast live on 89.9, I think it was. I followed the suggestions of the staff and had a great day in Knoxville. It's a really easy downtown to get around.

Great works there happy to help you and answer any questions. There are a few Knoxville souvenirs - but the majority of the souvenirs are made from locals. (Soy Candles, Jewelry, etc.) The Radio Station is a Blue Grass Station which has a small stage and artist that have performed there have a plate on the wall. And you are able to call in and reserve a seat or table if you want to watch whatever performer is performing.

There really isn't much here to see - a few knoxville souvenirs - but they could use more variety and creativity with that. You can find better knoxville souvenirs at the airport gift shops!
