Great place for a view and to take pictures of Chattanooga. See how and where the battle of the clouds was fought. Great camera angles of a cannon overlooking Chattanooga from above.

The incline here is a bit pricey but it is a memorable, if slightly terrifying experience (it is the steepest incline in the world).

Lookout Mountain has 3 main attractions, each situated a few miles from each other. We purchased tickets for all 3 in advance. We went to the Incline Railway in the morning and had no wait time. The ride up the mountain was fantastic and a bit nerve wracking. Just when you think you are almost there, it gets even steeper! The view was spectacular!! We went to Rock City mid morning, again not much of a line. This was by far the entire family's favorite place. The walk to "See 7 States"/Lovers Leap was great! There are a few places that are a tight squeeze between 2 rocks. Again, fantastic views at the "See 7 States"/Lovers Leap part. Breathtaking!!Our least favorite part of the day was Ruby Falls. Dark, dank, long (1 1/2 hours) and not as spectacular as they make it sound, but a huge waterfall below ground, nonetheless. The "light show" for the 3 mins or so that you are allowed in the falls area is pretty, but made me feel like they were trying too hard to make it spectacular.Great day! Took us from around 9 am until about 5 pm, with lunch at Rock City.

Made me nervous. It made our afternoon fun to walk around and explore the top of the plateau. Seeing the pulley work the trains was nice also.

I had been to Lookout Mtn. back in the 70's. As you were traveling around you would see the barns with "See Rock City" written on the roofs. It was just as I remembered it, great views and rock formations. We did not take the incline up we drove instead. No charge to park but it was around $24.00 to go in. No AAA or senior discounts. if you take the incline you have to add about another $15.00. I am not sure if there is any discount if you combine the incline with admission You can however add Ruby Falls tickets and save a little combining the two. The agent told us this time of year the admission price was a little higer because of the Shamrock Village. It is for children but everyone pays more. The waterfalls all have green water for St. Patrick's day. Be sure to wear comfortable sturdy shoes as you will be walking on somewhat slippery surfaces. It is quite wet in some sections and dark. Especially in Fairyland Caverns. A flashlight would have come in handy in there. There are area's that are quite tight to get through especially "Fat Man's Squeeze".There are tables and a couple of firepits as well as food if you just want to sit and relax and enjoy the view. You cannot visit it but the Carter house is right there atop Lookout Mtn. The home is from the 1930's but is just as beautiful today. The history of the Carter's is quite interesting. It was Mr. Carter who had the idea to have the barns painted along the highway to advertise Rock City This is a great place to spend a few hours. Children will enjoy seeing the fallow deer, gnome valley, 1000 ton balancing rock, climbing wall, swing-along-bridge and many other interesting things. Try to pick a nice sunny, dry day. You can see 7 states if the conditions are right.

Amazing views at the top. Rock City is beautiful and my kids really enjoyed this activity of the winding rock paths, swinging bridge and caves. The waterfall at Rock City was colored green for St Patrick's Day and there were men dressed in Irish attire playing music with bag pipes. Also they offered wall climbing for 5 dollars and that was a extra treat. Free wine tasting, nice employees, clean grounds and would definitely recommend visiting if in the area for any age. We were lucky to have great sunny weather the day we visited. Also, there is a Starbucks shop with an outside fireplace for coffee lovers. Money and time well spent.

I suggest making this a stop because of the amazing views! Make sure you pack comfy shoes though, I saw a few other tourists wearing slick bottom flip flops and they had a tough time hiking... imagine that.

Our family travels from northern Illinois to sunny Florida every year. Chattanooga is where we stop off & we visit lookout mountain every time! The view from the top is beautiful and it never gets old! We travel with 4 teenage boys and they love visiting here. Lovely drive to the top.

Correction to when we visited: it was November 2013. Went as an extended family for something to do after Thanksgiving. We went when it was a little cold, but we enjoyed the views. Not exactly for the unfit. A must see at least once in a lifetime. An any age attraction for sure!

Lookout Mountain offers a spectacular view of the surrounding area. Supposedly you can see 'multiple states' from the top...but how would you know? I do know it's a long way to the horizon. Lots of mountain top activities in the area.

Stunning rockwork, stunning views (after the fog cleared). Some cute little displays. Very nice "required tourist trap."

With its natural beauty and the man made additions, a lovely area has been changed into a wonderland. Filled with unforgettable sites like Fat Man's Squeeze, Lover's Leap, and a view to see 7 states by, Lookout Mountain is a great all ages attraction. Not to mention the classic Rock City barns are a trademark of the south.

fabulous views from the top, a no no if you don't like heights,it is a great ride to the top with a guide telling you all about the trolley car that takes you up and down.

The drop from this view is so shear that it is as if you are on a cloud looking down on the city of Chattanooga and seeing other states in the distance. A very special place to visit with family and friends. My last visit was several years ago.

Snowy sunny day for fantasy walk in magnificent other worldly garden. Intricate, well planned design magical under inches of snow, and the music added appropriate ambience to my enjoyment. Seriously consider returning to mother goose display with grandchildren.
