We return to Reelfoot for a week each year along with 2 other couples. There is no other place that provides more peace and quiet and beauty. Local restaurants provide filling and delicious meals at a reasonable price. You must take the tour boat and see the hidden spots along the lake. This is not a place where you will find lots to entertain you. It is a perfect place to get away from all your life's problems and enjoy spending time with those who are sharing the trip with you.

We visited on a gorgeous autumn afternoon. I couldn't stop taking pictures of the cypress trees! We stopped at two observation decks before we went to the visitor's center. We were delighted to see a live bald eagle and four owls in enclosures behind the building. We walked on the boardwalk through the trees and took pictures of the lake. We saw an abundance of turtles.Things to enjoy in the nature center are displays about history and science, beautiful photographs and paintings, a large collection of arrowheads and pottery, a boat, and live animals.I'm so glad we visited. I would like to see the lake in each season.

Wide variety of crafts ( fall and otherwise). Wide variety of food. Some of it is a little pricey. Example - one ear of grilled corn is $5. But a good place to get items for fall and winter decorating. Or a cap and name tag for your dog. Fun day to look, buy, and eat. It runs for 3 days ( Fri. Sat. and Sun.) so if you don't finish the first day you can go back. The locals have yard sales on the roads leading to Reelfoot Lake. When you go check out the wildlife exhibit.

We were in the area for a couple of days to fish. The park was a great stop. We were there during the off season so many activities were not in operation. The staff was super friendly and the boardwalk was a pretty walk.

We did not see the eagles but may be back this winter when more are in the area. We have photographed the eagles here before.

This was our first time at Reelfoot Lake State Park campground. We stayed from 7/15/22014-7/20/2014. We have a 36 ft. Class A motor home and were able to reserve a site (#19) right on the lake. The campground is very large with over 350 sites. The only complaint about our site would be it was short. The campground is flat which made it nice for walking. The showers and restrooms were kept clean. They had presentation on birds of prey while we were there. We got some great sunset pictures.

Great day trip with some beautiful scenery! Good photo ops of wild life and the surrounding cypress trees and knots ! Visitor Center had several Bald Eagles, hawks and owls on view. Boyettes across the street has some good catlish and/or ham dinners ! A must stop while in the area. Historical Civil War marker for Island # 10 which was a Confederate Fort located on the now submerged island. A Great Day Trip !

Our photography club took a field trip to Reelfoot Lake State Park last weekend. We booked a lake tour on a pontoon boat. It was a truly great tour. Our guide/boat pilot was very knowledgeable about the lake, the wildlife and the flora and fauna around it. She knew the places to take us for some really awesome photo opportunities and slowed to let us take advantage of those photo ops. After the tour we were able to witness and photograph the release of an egret back into the wild, then our guide brought out a baby screech owl and a red-tailed hawk for us to photograph. Finally she let us go inside the eagle enclosure and get some very close photos of an adult eagle and a juvenile eagle. Everyone was so pleased with our outing.

We took a 2 hour drive to Reelfoot Lake to do a little photography and walk some trails. A lot of things have changed since we visited it as children. The boardwalk through the marshy area was a nice walk to take and we saw water snakes, herons, ducks, turtles and fish. There is a nice visitor center where you can handle live snakes (we didn't) and learn about the history of the area including the lake's formation by the New Madrid earthquakes of 1811-1812. There is a seismometer there as well. This was a nice way to spend an afternoon. There are restaurants right across the street.

We stopped at the visitor center for about an hour. The boardwalk was the highlight for me. The walkway is built on wooden posts placed in the lake. It meanders through tall bald cypress trees which are majestic. We saw several turtles sunning themselves and numerous water birds floating on the water. I imagine there's far more wildlife during warmer months. Around the center, we also enjoyed watching several fat red squirrels eating tree nuts. The center also has a large caged enclosure which holds injuired birds, including eagles, hawks and owls. I loved watching them at such close quarters. The birds are used for traveling educational wildlife shows. The center contains a museum which has many interesting displays on how Reelfoot lake was formed, the local animals and the human history of the area. I would certainly go back.

We live about 1.5 hours away, and figured this would be a good first trip in our motorhome. The spots, are level, paved, and very clean. most of the water front spots have 50amp service. All the sites have picnic tables, grills, and fire pits. The bath houses are very clean. This is a must see and must return state park.

My friends and I stopped here on our way back to Chicago. There are many areas off the main road where you can park and walk out on a dock to fish or view the lake. There are also picnic areas and places for the kids to play. I'm excited to go back during the winter months and maybe take one of the boat tours to see where the eagles nest. Overall, this was a good experience.

Beautiful fishing only lake. Overnight accommodations are expensive for families. Local restaurants food good southern cooking fair prices. Hiking trails and fishing piers located around lake. Enjoyed the sunsets.

Did a quick afternoon trip with our daughters, ages 6 & 7, to the visitor center. Very nice display of animals including bald eagles, hawk, owls, many snakes. Museum is nice but didn't spend much time inside. Nature boardwalk though the water was neat with more wildlife seen. Very shady area even on a hot sunny day. Many parks and fishing spots nearby if desired.

We checked in at the Ranger station and museum. There were many interesting critters and lots of information. We hiked a bit and took a car ride around most of the lake. It is a really beautiful area.
