Itching to do some fall trout fishing I was disappointed to learn that all our middle Tennessee trout streams were generating. I was determined to catch something this weekend and the Bucksnort Trout Ranch came to the rescue. It's not the outdoor experience most fly fisherman pine for (you're next to I-40), but it was close enough. Despite the highway, the scenery was nice. Everything was clean and well kept. I can see this being a great youth outing of some type. There's no charge to fish, you just pay for what you catch which tells me they are very confident you're going to catch something. Even the fish that are under one pound are nice and put up quite a fight. They have a few 8 pounders that I'd love to go back and try for. I would recommend this location for fly fishermen working to practice their casts and other fly techniques. Lots of room to do this. What you won't do is net a fish. I lost 3 until I realized I just needed to pull them up on the bank. This is the best method for landing them. The worker was very helpful and friendly.

I took my young daughter and her friend fishing on a beautiful fall day this fall. Shaun, the manager, was so helpful and kind. The girls each caught 3 fish that were just under 2 lbs. each! It was a perfect day!
