I recently had the opportunity to visit Watauga Lake Winery's vineyard and winery with a wonderful lunch to boot! Linda and Wayne are the perfect host and hostess. We had a wonderful lunch and tour of both the vineyard and the winery. Great wine tasting to ensure which wine is the best to take home! Definitely recommend a visit if you are in East Tennessee.

Linda and Wayne have done a great job at converting an old school into a winery. Linda not only knows her wines but the history of the area and the building has well. Spending time with her is extremely enjoyable and informative. We were particularly impressed with their Stone Mountain White and the Big Dry Run red. If you are in the area make it a priority to visit.

As a lifelong educator, I must admit to feeling a little weird drinking wine in an old school building! It was the most unique winery I have ever visited. The owners did a really great job of converting the school into a winery while leaving some of the quaint aspects of the school evident. We enjoyed visiting with the owner and his big standard poodle while we tasted the lovely wine. My favorite was the dessert wine which tasted like chocolate and raspberry. It was delicious!Also, don't miss the beautiful mountain art painted by the owner's daughter. The bears in her work were charming.

If you are anywhere in NE TN, Watauga Lake Winery is a must visit. We visited the winery on Sunday afternoon. The drive over was beautiful. They are located in an old school building that they have fully restored in Butler, TN. One of the owners, Linda Gay, led our tasting. She was gracious, informative, and fun. Linda told us the history of their vineyard and their wine. Their wine is absolutely delicious. We bought a case and will be going back for more. If you enjoy wine and beautiful countryside, don't miss Watauga Lake Winery.

The Watagua Lake Winery is the absolute best wine tasting experience we have ever had. It is not easy to serve a crazy group of 14 people. On our drive in we saw signs to a winery and decided to go the very next day. Linda was great with the history of the school building, taught us what CCC stands for and a gorgeous tour of the facility and vineyards. If you are in the area, YOU MUST go see Linda, her husband, the wine maker and their puppy, Alex! You will love the wine, history and beautiful scenery! We will most certainly be back for another visit and to re-stock our wine cabinets!

What a wonderful surprise to stumble upon the Watauga Lake Winery! We really enjoyed the tastings and even bought some to take back to Atlanta! Great tour, gorgeous vineyards and a cool little gift shop with great Italian pottery for sale. While we were there, someone was looking at it considering the gazebo space for a wedding. The owners told us about the restored building, which is an old historic school. Overall, a fun and unique experience in a beautiful setting!

What a terrific experience we had today! The Watauga Lake Winery and the nearby beautiful vineyards were our destination----- and proved to be a great excursion. Located in the historic Dry Hill School, the winery is attractive, fun and educational---plus the wines are excellent. (we bought a case after sampling their extensive varieties) The owners, Linda and Wayne, are well informed about wine and have a great story to tell about their becoming involved in an exciting second career. We will return!
