Please see the review under conference center. It is definitely something you should explore if you are interested in your family history. Bring family info before going.

This place is mecca for anyone interested in genealogy. Be careful - a 20 minute casual visit will lead to a lifetime obsession!

Surprised that my 22 and 16 year old were so into family history. It was fun for them to see the pictures and records that made their great-great-grandparents real

Came here on a genealogy research trip and stayed a week. I want to go back so badly that I'd walk from SC if need be. This is the place for your genealogy research. It is all here. The films, the machines, the volunteers.....even volunteers that can translate your documents into the language you read/speak. Everyone is friendly, helpful and patient. I would have stayed for hours past closing time if I could have. I will definitely be going back.

I stopped in here for a bit while in SLC and it's HUGE. Tons of microfilm machines, tons of research space, tons of people ready to help. If you have already done family history research, come armed with specific questions- or even better- specific microfilm reels or book call numbers, so you don't waste time. Very glad I went!

I am an avid user of familysearch at home, so I was super excited to go to the library when we were here in SLC. However, for me, it was less interesting since I already have access to almost everything they provide. I was hoping there might be some kind of registry or documents that were not cataloged online that could only be reached onsite, but there weren't. I highly recommend it to anyone who is just starting out on their research or curious to just take a peek. Everyone was very nice and willing to help. If you have already started your research, you may not find it as worthwhile.

During our visit to SLC we visited this museum/library multiple times to research our family tree. The attendants at the library were extremely helpful and friendly. They wanted to see where our family tree went as much as we did. They provided excellent research facilities and training to be able to take what we learned and use it at home.

I made my first trip to the library in June but already booked another trip to go back. The volunteers were very helpful to me in overcoming some road blocks I had run into. It is well organized with many resources. Would recommend to anyone interested in genealogy.

The volunteer help at the FHL is phenomenal, whether you are starting your research or have been ancestor searching for years.

I was at a conference at the Salt Palace. I had never visited the Family History Library before, but it's almost next door to the Salt Palace, so I thought I might just go look. It's okay if you don't know anything about geneology. You can walk in and start from scratch. The volunteers there are so friendly and so knowledgeable. Don't be afraid to just ask. Even the dumbest of questions will be met with friendly accommodation. As I used their databases and looked for the microfilm I marveled at how organized and clean everything was. Their computer resources are so well designed and implemented, I found myself wondering why they didn't ask these guys to build the Obamacare websites. These folks maintain hundreds of millions of records, with amazing precision. There was a rumor in my family that my great-grandfather had a first wife who fell to her death. We never had any documentation on this nor did we even know her name. On my first microfilm I found her. It was amazing. If you are trying to figure out what to do while you are in SLC, just try this out. They are open until 9 most nights. I promise, you'll get sucked in and they'll have to push you out the door and 9:10.

Have been her before and will come again. Excellent layout, lots of workstations, good wifi service and super people all willing to help. It is the best spot in the world to find everything in one place.

The attendants are quite cordial and helpful and the resources available through the LDS Church are almost unparalleled. Probably only the Library of Congress could be as helpful when it comes to tracing your genealogy.

This was my main reason for visiting Salt Lake City. It was all I could have hoped for. Friendly and helpful staff and volunteers. Everything is geared for the serious researcher. I can hardly wait to go back.

I thoroughly enjoy my trips to this Family Library. People are very helpful and resources are nearly endless.
