We visited here a couple of times and will go back with friends. The views are among the best in we've seen, take time to walk around the Overlook. This is accessed off the beautiful Burr Trail Rd and shouldn't be missed. The road in is a little rough, if you doubt your vehicle do the hike! The trail is a wash and does change, our first trip it was very smooth, second trip pretty rough.

A short hike out from the Burr Trail (or a drive if your car has enough clearance). This is a beautiful view of Waterpocket Fold in Capitol Reef. Pictures do not convey the sense of scale that you get when you are really there. Absolutely Astounding!

If one is going to see Capitol Reef, then one should take the time to see its fantastic variety of formations, colors, & views, which makes it so unique. This overlook is one worth the short hike off the Burr Trail.

I went on a cloudy day and got there too late for good photos in any case, but it's still a great view, and there are some cool formation and two arches along the way. I walked the 6.6 mi RT from the pullout a little down the dirt road from the Burr Trail Road, but any vehicle with some clearance (and I think most passenger cars, aside from a few spots) and a little careful maneuvering could make it to the trailhead. From there it's only about 1/3 mi to the overlook area across some slickrock (watch for the cairns).Just be careful if you head through the Burr Trail switchbacks east of the trail to get there, as they're very steep and tight in a few spots on a gravel road with some long dropoffs and no guardrails...I kept my vehicle in first gear about 10 mph for the initial part of the descent to the connection with the Notom-Bullfrog Road.

other worldly views unlike any other on the planet. Hike is not long at all, but gives you an idea how a backpacking hike would be in this area.

A place of Fabulous views, beautiful vistas, crisp clear air, with swell hike, following scenic drive down the Notum road from the east end of the park.
