Battery Park in in Olde New Castle. Its grounds probably hold many historical secrets, like most of the old historic town. This is a free city park. Parking is free and a paved walking path lets you view the passing Delaware River, with the large Del Memorial Bridge Twin Spans as a back drip or for those who might be impressed, the Salem NJ Nuke Plant across the river. Weekends can be crowded with family picnic gatherings but there is plenty of room for walking, resting and kites, frisbees, etc. A nice hideaway just minutes from crowded I-95 and Route 13

Great place to take a walk and meet friendly people. Dog walking is allowed. You can watch the ships go by on the Delaware river. Pleasant.

Unless you are headed to fort Delaware there is almost no reason to visit. Free parking feature and the proximity of large ships make the sight seeing cheap. Quiet little city with the opportunity to be developed into a great place to visit. I,ll wait until that happens before I return.

Great way to spend an afternoon. Pack a lunch and enjoy the view. You can walk on paved paths or sit and watch the world go by. Lots of resident birds and super-friendly squirrels. Bathrooms are a wee bit gross.

The park may not be a big draw but if you look beyond it you will see some very historic and unique shops. It is also the gateway to the ferry to Historic Fort Delaware. From time to time there are special events at the park and when there are the whole town usually joins in. It is small but the view is grand. Worth a stop if your in the area.

Nice paved path along the water. Always see birds along the trail. Bathrooms are the only downside - dark and dingy.

We were driving through Delaware and decided to stop at Delaware City. What a nice find--a charming, laid back area with alot of free parking, a nice park fronting the river, and much history told on many historic plaques--information about the steamboats on the river, the Cheasapeake and Delaware Canal, the locks, and the city. This was so nice that we will return to spend more time around here.

I enjoyed the fresh spring outdoors at this park. The cut of fresh grass and the kids playing reminds me of my childhood in the parks

I have loved battery park since I was a kid. It's a great place to just go walking alone or with your boo and look at the water and reflect on your life.
