This is a no frills ski "resort" that is great for families..The prices are reasonable, they continually have more snow than mose resorts in Spokane area, and offer free ski school with quality instructors. Our kids went through it and it was fantastic..Waits at the lift can be long when the classes are in session

There was plenty of powder and lots of different runs. No lines for the lifts and generally not too crowded. Bought season passes for next year, can't wait to go back more often. Wish we hadn't waited until the end of the season to go.

We made a quick trip to Lookout Pass. We were intrigued by it being on Idaho Montana state line. Gorgeous mountain and views. Kind of fun to purchase a snack in Idaho and eat it in Montana. Wish we would have had time to try skiing.

Lookout Pass Ski Area is where many locals learned to ski. It has three lifts that serve several runs from beginners to expert. The front side is the Idaho side and has some challenging runs (Bonanza is my favorite). The backside is the Montana side and has one good blue cruiser (Rainbow Ridge) and two blues that have some challenges near the base. The newest runs (Red Dog and Marmot) go down towards the North side and is a high level Blue. The lifts are not high speed but run at a decent pace. The chalet is very friendly and has good food. This is a fun hill with not that many people.

can not find a better, affordable ski area any where. Good mix of runs, nice lodge and great powder.

Traveling with our two daughters from Texas in our RV. Late spring visit. May 31.First of all don't expect much in the way of signage or customer service when you find the trail or lodge. I had to call for directions and I had printed off the website details before trying to find out where I was supposed to be. The lodge is kind of run down and the folks inside (with a couple of exceptions) aren't too excited that you are there - and we were the only ones there! Wow - how do you handle a crowd? Biking folks are better than the restaurant / gift shop folks at noticing customers, but it still is not a convincingly genuine welcome. Bring your own food for the trail and you will be better off. Angus burger is a joke in the lodge and the grilled chicken is just a frozen treat. Worst failing of the "lodge" is the lack of any interesting or quality merchandise. A pin or two, some cheap bags, a few bad T shirts in errant sizes - this is really a pathetic gift shop and that is at the START of the season. What a lost revenue opportunity!The boys in the lodge might be a few sandwiches short of a picnic since no one even wanted to take an offer on giving us a ride back (what they normally do but on weekends only, until mid June when they are in full swing). Since we were there on a Thursday - there was no shuttle service. WOW guys you turned down the 50 to 100 bucks I would have been willing to pay to be picked up at the end of the trail and instead made me and my young family (7 and 9 year old girls) ride 10 miles down and 10 miles back up the trail to get back (the recommended shortened version). Did not even attempt to be interested in making 3 or 4 times as much as sitting in the lodge 'on the clock". Didn't even allow the offer!!! STUPID. So we spent 7 hours getting down the trail and back! Thanks - put us right at the limit of collapse for our two girls. Would have been great to bike down (1.7% declining grade on the way down - supposed to get picked up at the end - yes that would have been great but instead we had to pedal back - not too tough unless you are a little kid). Survived in tact thanks to lots of snacks and stretch breaks and my wife - and some tough Texas girls. I wouldn't try it otherwise.Now on to the trail - One of the most memorable times with my family in recent memory. Great trail. Exciting views and excellent historical markers and info. Tunnels were fascinating! Views were stupendous! Thanks to whom ever put this together and maintains it. Get some better lodge staff and real merchandise - you could have made $150 on my family if you put the gift shop at the end of the trail and had real merchandise and staff that cared. Woops!?Hints: Water, jacket (it gets hot and very cold a couple of times in the same day), snacks, food, sunglasses, sunscreen and a good headlight is manditory.

Their rates are the most competitive, and the snow was nice. I took my grandkids, 4 & 6. They had a good time. Compared to high speed quads, it's a let down, otherwise it's a winner.

I have been over this pass several times, and always enjoyed the beautiful mountains. This trip was special, however, because the snow covered tress were absolutely beautiful. The mountains appeared to be dusted with powdered sugar. The view was outstanding.

New lift opens up a ton more terrain and alot more vertical. Best place to go when the powders deep! Next year when they open another chair will have as much terrain as Schweitzer! Have Fun!

Passing the the mountains at such a high elevation, the views, and the drive itself. In the summer, the ski area offers other ways to use the facility. I just drove there for the view and as a preview for winter, as this will be my first winter in the area

Great trail, but don't take your pet, they won't allow them on the trail even if they are on your bike or in a burley. Great accommodations at the Hercules Inn in Wallace when you are done, but DON'T eat at the Smokehouse BBQ.

Our family stays in Kellogg every year and we ski Lookout and Silver. Silver has the steep, Lookout has the deep. Also, Silver gets more wind than Lookout. It seems strange that Lookout, on the Bitterroot crest, has less wind than Silver, but it is consistently less. It also has more sun. And much better powder. Silver has more vertical, more expert slopes (really expert) and more lifts. But we have more fun at Lookout. Maybe it's because we can park so close, and bring powder skis as well as regular skis, so we can use what we like. Maybe it's because the intermediate and the expert skiers can take different trails down to the same lift. We stay in Kellogg, with Kellogg Vacation Homes. They have all kinds of homes and cabins, some with hot tubs. I-90 is always clear and we have had no problems driving to Lookout from Kellogg.

Lookout pass ski area has gorgeous views no matter what the season. It has top notch ski runs in winter and Huckleberries in the summer. Just a quick ride from Cda or the Silver Valley towns of Kellogg and Wallace there are also numerous campgrounds closeby if you want to stay for a few days.

Right up front, we love this place. So much that my husband and I are on the Ski Patrol there. That said, I have been to a fair number of other places and Lookout is a great, family friendly, economical place to ski with a good variety of runs and amazing snow. It couldn't be much easier to get to - take I 90 to the Idaho/Montana border and you are there! (I'm not much for long gondola rides either) Lookout is growing steadily with a big expansion planned in the not too distant future - they will be opening a big bowl area with several more lifts and an addtional lodge to service it. Mountain management is all about customer service and they are always looking for ways to enhance their customers experience. There is a pretty good selection of food at the lodge and a friendly bar upstairs for the grown ups. I understand the snowmobiling is pretty good too, though I haven't actually experienced that.Currently accomodations are an issue, there are none on the mountain itself, but some of the regulars bring their own and stay in the parking lot. Space gets pretty tight for that on the weekends though. The Wallace Inn, Starlight Motel and the Brooks Motel are good basic accomodations in Wallace about 15 miles from the hill and the Kellogg area has quite a variety of accomodations available as well, with some additional recreational activities and that other ski hill as well. In the summer Lookout is the base for your Hiawatha Trail activities, rent bikes, purchase your trail ticket and purchase food and other needs. The mountain is beautiful in summer too.Come up and see us, we're waiting for you!

So it's not as fancy as other mountains in the area... but that's why I like it. The runs are beautiful and it has that small town feel. I would have given it an "excellent", but my board was stolen a few years back. Very disappointing, but I would still go back. Just be sure to keep an eye on your equipment and all will be fine!
