Great place for a picnic, swim and short walk. It has restrooms and a beach. It is really close to Boise and gets pretty busy when the weather warms up.

Have a birth for a small boat there. Love spending summers boating, fishing, camping. It is a great place to just enjoy life. I try to go there 3x per week during the summer.

This is one of the most beautiful places i have ever been to in person. Pictures, of course, do a place no justice...must be seen with your own eyes-and bring along a friend-for luck.

Great place to relax and have fun. River rafting-fishing or just basking in the sun on one of many of the beach areas. Beautiful area if you are needing a place to get in touch with what really matters! Also visit Idaho City for a taste of the a small town from the west era.

I grew up in Boise and we would go to lucky peak and swim almost every weekend. It was a great place to go. On this visit, I was shocked to see all the geese poop. The sunbathers were gathered in a tiny section to the left where there was less poop. The rest of the sand was littered with poop. The grassy areas where you would picnic was also covered in poop. It definitely needs a clean up!

Water is still chilly in May (understandably). Love the views of the local geology and wildlife from the lake.

City close but uncrowded experience awaits a fisherman or water ski enthusiast. Weekends are not crowded and launches are easy during the season. Love this place.

If you have any company from the mid-west like we do or the east, its the best and closest way to show them the raw beauty of the west. They are always impressed and its generally not busy during the week day so it provides a quite respit for all. Talke a picnic and stay.

I mean it's at the base of Lucky Peak Dam behind which is Lucky Peak Reservoir. Sandy beaches, camping and day use. In the spring, the Rooster tail is impressive when the water managers draw down the lake level to handle the snow melt runoff. The water hits the bottom of the sluice way and blasts up and away as far as 150 feet. It's impressive.

Make sure to hit this during the spring runoff when they open the dam. Very nice small park on the river. Keep an eye on the kids.

Love it there so quiet, restful. It costs 4.00 to stay all day no overnight. You can just sit and watch the water coming in from the upper dam to the lower river and them the lower damn. Lots of canoes, bicycles, the path of the greenbelt. Enjoy after a long day.
