This museum offers an in-depth look at small town life. The exhibits on the town itself are fantastic with lots of pictures and written history located in the Oelwein Room. The railroad, the major employer in Oelwein for years is well represented with lots of artifacts in the Railroad Crossing room to attract any railroad buff. Various other "rooms" depict the general store, the county clerk's office, the doctors and hospital that once was so widely used by surrounding towns, and numerous others. A step back in time that makes a person appreciate what our ancestors did to get us where we are today. The totally volunteer staff is knowledgeable, friendly and more than willing to answer any questions a tourer might have. Highly recommend this hidden historical treasure.
