It is a really nice State Park year round. Lots of picnic sites, and a small camping area that are open most of the year. Nice hiking and horse trails. There is a big log cabin lodge available for parties available by reservation only.
REBCARI
I was happy to get out and go for a hike. The trails aren't well maintained or well marked. Since I was alone, I didn't venture too far when the path looked a bit overgrown. Word to the wise...use bug spray.

Fort Defiance is a great state park. It is small and slightly off the beaten path but can make for a great place to spend a day or weekend. It has numerous trails both in the valley and flat above the valley with multiple types of surfaces! There is a great shelter built during the great depression and a campground available. It is a beautiful place to walk, hike, camp, sightsee or have a family gathering/picnic. It has fire pits available for bonfires and restrooms.
