Voices Art Symposium is a venue to experience cutting edge art including sculpture, paintings, photography as well as visual and audio art. Poetry and short plays may be a part of the symposium, but a unique aspect this past year was an artist posed on top of a large sculpture that he created. Although the art symposium is usually later summer/ early fall ongoing art displays are able to be enjoyed all year. This is a continually growing and fun event each year.

Not what you would expect at all in little, old Dubuque. This is a unique atmosphere with unique displays. Definitely worth checking out for those who have missed out on the first few seasons of Voices!

not much here, the have occasional entertainment with a bar but no bathrooms. You have to go outside the building to a portable potty.

While taking a Trikke tour with Tour Dubuque,Leo our knowledgeable guide, took us to this revitalized area of town. He knew the history of every building. A wedding was taking place at one of the galleries and we created a sensation with our Trikkes. I'm so glad that we were able to see this jewel in the crown of Dubuque.

My wife and I attended a free concert last Saturday evening, October, 2013, given by the highly talented and entertaining Celtic trio named "Open The Door For Three" at Gallery C, 900 Jackson St. in the revitalized Jackson Mill District of Dubuque. The City of Dubuque is engaged in a partnership with private interests in the ongoing, obviously already successful, revitalization of this area of the city with the enthusiastic support of the local arts community, including the Irish Hooley. For almost three hours the 200+ attendees were entertained by this highly accomplished trio. The opening act was a 40 minute set by a local young comedian- singer-guitar player who was pretty good, and whose name, unfortunately, escapes me. The only cost, which included free wine and beer, was a donation if one cared to give one. My wife and gave a donation as well as purchased a CD after the concert. If this is a portent of events to come in this rehabbed old mill building with its combination of old wood beams, brick walls and updated infrastructure systems in this revitalized area, the local arts community is well on its way to attracting participants and support from near and far in the tri-starte area surrounding old Dubuque.

One will be delighted by exploring this marvelous attraction in the historic millwork district. A revitalized industrial area that is the talk of the town. Which by the way is a continuing work in progress. The art symposium has a variety of shows throughout the year and one will be amazingly surprised on the many exhibits displayed. For those who want an exciting environment to live, work, and play then this is the place to check out. COME TO DUBUQUE!
