The downtown building housed several different theatres since the early 1900's until finally closing in 2009. The Corning American Theatre was recently reopened this June after being newly renovated. The latest digital movie releases are shown with a Dolby surround sound system. CAT has 100 new high-back rocker seats, handicap access and WiFi. Prices for the matinée and children's tickets were $5 with evening shows $7 for adults. Concession prices are also considerably cheaper than theatres in larger towns charge.
