This is an amazing bridge to travel over (or under)! Be sure to go with someone who can provide the full story on how this bridge was named.

The Kate Shelley High Bridge is one of the highest double-track train bridges in the United States. Travel to Boone, Iowa, then west of town on 200th street, which terminates in a foot bridge across the Des Moines River. The Kate Shelley bridge is just to the south of the foot bridge. The scenery of the Des Moines river valley is beautiful. One can see the original steel high bridge, built in 1901, and subsequently damaged in a 1986 windstorm. The replacement concrete bridge opened in 2009 and is used by the Union Pacific railroad today. Along with the scenery, the massive Union Pacific trains crossing overhead is something to see.
