I went around June of last year- we found the trail just driving on the highway! The loop was beautiful and a good hike that didn't tire me out. The views were gorgeous, it took about 2 and a half hrs to hike because we stopped for a picnic and enjoyed the views. Would highly recommend! Great lake views

This is a reasonably easy hike and the reward is fabulous views of Lake Superior and Oberg Lake. We like to visit in late Sept. early Oct. - after the peak of the color season, because the crowds are down and the hillsides are still colorful. With fewer people, we have had numerous sightings of deer and smaller critters.

This is one of my favorite snowshoe and cross-country ski destinations. I've hiked it in the summer and fall as well, but there's something magical about it in the wintertime, especially during a snowfall. A nice mix of gentle and more strenuous paths provide something for every level of skier.

This is one of the easier mountain hikes in the area (compared to Carlton Peak and Eagle Mountain). Great views as you hike all around the top of the mountain. We went after peak colors but the forest was still very colorful. Going late in the fall definitely has it's advantages as we had the mountain all to ourselves. There's nothing like sitting at the top and having lunch looking out at the one channel mother nature has on her TV set - great scenery.

Come early in the day to ensure you can get a parking spot. This is a popular hike; great views, easy hike, smooth trail. Vistas of forest, small Oberg lake and Lake Superior abound. I recommend this as great place to take photos, especially when fall colors are at peak. Also an excellent place to bring a lunch (keep it simple - pack it in a small day pack). Important to keep smaller children in hand. This path has many steep cliffs that can be dangerous. The climb is not very difficult, most anyone should be able to complete the route although it is not handicapped accessible. https://www.google.com/maps/place/Oberg+Mountain,+Superior+National+Forest,+Tofte,+MN+55615/@47.6270762,-90.7752368,17z/data=!4m2!3m1!1s0x52a631b0c357d3a9:0x4dacfa3c854327b7

So...I come from a family of avid hikers and backpackers but not me. In September during Fall peak colors, I decided to give it a try. We took our time and began the Oberg Loop around 9am. It wasn't as difficult as I thought and the views were great. As we were making our way down to the parking lot, hoards of people and dogs were making their way up. I was glad we went early to avoid the crowds.

The views from Oberg Mountain on a sunny late September morning were stunning! We got many pictures. The weather was beautiful all weekend, which of course meant there were many visitors - the only downside of the visit. Parking at the trailhead was crazy, but still the trip was well worth it. We have many beautiful pictures from this trip.

Easy hike for fabulous views. The parking lot is well marked and has a restroom available. The beginning of the hike is a little rocky and steep--however, sandals or walking shoes are fine for this trek. The loop at the top of the mountain has several overlooks, each unique and beautiful. There's even a picnic table for a box lunch! Bring your camera and a water bottle--the views are amazing. Autumn is my favorite time to hike Oberg Mountain.

This hike is just as beautiful as Mt Eagle, but much less energy is required to make the hike. The distance to the top and first view of Lake Superior is far shorter and less steep, but the view is picture perfect.

A very pleasant - and fairly easy little trek - for a magnificent view of Lake Superior and Oberg Lake; very doable for even the most novice hikers. As a bonus - the drive up the North Shore makes the trip spectacular!!

THis hike is fairly short and well worth the opportunity to see a lot of territory from a distance up the hills. One of the best of the Superior Hiking Trail.

The only hard parts of this hike are the beginning and the end when you are climbing to and coming down from from the main loop. The actual loop is a fairly flat trail taking you all the way around the mountain. You will be rewarded with great views, especially in the fall during peak color. There is plenty of parking at the base of the trail and it is well-marked.

Be prepared to CLIMB and WALK! A nice loop with scenic overlooks. Steep and rocky in places but our kids (8 and 10) did great.

I love the colors more so than anywhere in the world. Yellows reds oranges. I hike it every year in September. I love the switch backs. It's like a real mountain in Minnesota.

This is such a scenic area, especially in the winter. There are a few ski trails along the way that are worth stopping at. Climb Oberb Mountain if you have time, the view from the top is breathtaking.
