This is our third year going to Hyland for ski lessons for our kids. It's great to have ski lessons so close to our house. We've been really happy with the ski instructors that our kids have had. It's a great place to learn to ski, there are lots of lesson times and the lesson groups are small. There just isn't enough terrain to keep our interest after the lessons though and the runs are so short. I wish they would post when they are hosting ski races on the north end because when that end is inaccessible there is really not much left to ski. The temporary chalet situation this winter is kind of a downer but we are looking forward to the beautiful new chalet next year. The really short lift lines this winter have been great though!

That's 20 something years. There is something so charming about this ski hill. It always makes me nostalgic when I see all the young ones taking their ski lessons! This is the perfect hill for folks who just love to head down the hill, or for first timers. You aren't going to perfect your double black diamond runs here, but you will have a nice day of skiing.

Great Improvements: I hadn't been to Hyland Ski and Snow Boarding for many years and went this winter. There are amazing improvements of every kind. Three to four times bigger. There not enough space to tell you about them, you have to go and see for yourself. Excellent.

Wasn't open in September but we walked through the area. Very pretty with fall colors starting. Adjacent to large city park with nice trails and lake.

great downhill and snowboard area for just getting out there and doing it--senior season passes so reasonable you do not mind skiing a couple of hours at a time---daily tickets a bit spendy in my opinion---excellent ski patrol--excellent ski school---excellent opportunity for part time winter employment---get there early in winter or you have to be shuttled to an off site parking lot---food available--can bring in your own food--police patrolled--great night skiing--in fact the place is wide open after 6PM---wekday skiing great for seniors----practice your driving up the hill---you improve the length of your drive---putting green available---best freezbe golf there---also early morning cross country skiing---good destination point for sprinf summer fall bike riding

We went there in the summer, great picnic area with rooftop covered picnic tables, public bathrooms and great walking trails all around the park, lake access with canoe and kayaks available for use.

Used to go to this place as a teen back in the day and it was a place to go if you enjoyed the snow. Not far from the I-494 beltway then south about a mile to West 82nd Street then west to the entrance. This was changed over the years from an old unpaved street off Normandale Road!

We went tubing and it was very fun. About 13 tracks for tubing. It was very busy over holiday break but they had plenty of staff to help and lines went quickly. Very fun.

When I was a kid this place was my baby sitter all winter long. My folks bought me a season pass and a bus ticket and 3+ days a week after school or on the weekends I was there. I really love this place and have many fond memories here. Sure it's small and compared to even Afton or Buck the runs are pretty short. But if you don't tell your kids they will never know. It's cheap, it's close and it's well maintained. Even after 30 years it still beats driving!

Very small, but it's all we have in the area. It's a fun place for teens to hang out and work off excess energy. Daily prices are high, so most kids get a season pass in the fall - which is a good value if they go often.

Hyland is perfect for those who want to learn to ski or snowboard. Plenty of good priced ski school pkgs for kids to adults. A small terrain park. These are all short runs/hills. They make snow, so base is always good. Parking can be very crowded on weekends. Not a destination ski place, but good enough for your local practice place.
