Canterbury Downs is an enjoyable place to spend an evening. The food is great. The prices reasonable. And the racing is fun and exciting. They also offer off track betting and a card room that is open 24/7. Drinks are good too. All and all. A fun place!

First time there. A must if you like to do a little betting. Cashiers were very helpful. Grounds are very pretty.

Oddly enough, this is a very family friendly racetrack! During the racing season, for the kids, there are wild animal races, wiener dog races and a petting zoo. In October, there's a corn maze. There is ample parking or valet, which fills up fast during main events. Twice a year, there are food trucks to look forward to and the lines are not that bad. There's a big poker area and casino table games that's 24/7. All casino carnival table games have progressives. You can even order food and eat at the tables, which I think is gross, but hey, it keeps the players playing. The casino is nonsmoking, which is fantastic. All in all, if you're a gambler, this is a very entertaining place if you've got a bankroll.

We had been to Valleyfair in July, so in August when the our teenage kids wanted to go back we decided to to to Canterbury Park. I wouldn't go every week but it's a fun place to spend an afternoon/evening. Food we had at the restaurant downstairs was quite good.

Fun event. Very organized event. Great facility. If you're into antique flea markets, this is so much fun. Event takes place inside so another plus.

Love the race track, love the horses - reserve a table in the restaurant if it's a hot day and you'll have your very own tv to watch up close!Food is ok - service is fantastic!Check out the horses in the winner's circle - go to the paddock before the races.A fun day for all!

Canterbury is such a fun, unique experience in the Twin Cities area. It is only $5 to get in, with Bargain Thursdays being $1...although I'm sure most would pay more. My husband and I enjoying going with a group of friends around dinner time. It is easy to spend 5-6 hours + just hanging out around the track. Watching the races in a blast. There is a big playground for kids, and they love to go up and see the horses as well. Very family friendly.

Canterbury Park is my favorite summer pastime. Why? It's cheap entertainment, I love the horses, and Canterbury is a great clean facility. You can sit on benches, close to the dirt track, or sit inside where it's cooler. Travel out to the paddock to see the horses before the race and get close enough to the Winners Circle after your horse has won. Maybe get an autograph from the winning jockey. Be sure to sign up for a VIP card at the Information Booth. Use it every time you place a bet, accumulate points, and pretty soon you'll be getting free stuff from Canterbury in the mail. New betting machines this year, which makes the lines go faster. You might even see Randy Sampson President/CEO of Canterbury. He's often in the paddock, the winners' circle, or mingling with the crowd. He's a great guy. He be what's in charge of a very fine track. And they're off!

Fun place to go for a day or evening. You can be indoors or outside. Betting is easy and this can be as expensive or cheap as you make it. Plenty of seating inside and out. Big windows and even in the winter it is fun to do the OTB betting.

Canterbury Park is a fun way to spend an evening at the track. You can go down by the stalls where the horses are saddled, and you can watch them walk around the ring right before jockeys go up. Betting is pretty simple, and every paid admission ($6) gets the program of races and horse statistics. The outside area allows you to stand next to the fence on the final stretch and feel the "thunder" of the horses crossing the finish line. You can see the jockeys weigh in after the race and view the champion in the ring. My only complaint: TOO MUCH SMOKE. If you don't like inhaling the smoke from everyone's cigarettes and cigars outside, find an alternate spot to watch the race, perhaps inside. (There are monitors everywhere.) I wish they could have a "non-smoking outdoor viewing" area. There is a variety of food locations and a small gift shop. If someone in your party isn't interested in the ponies, they can always go in the casino to play poker.

Spent my very first time at the track in air conditioned comfort with a table right at the finish line. Could bet and order drinks and food without leaving the table. View the race on a monitor or look up through the big full window area to see it live. Take a tour behind and watch the jockeys mount their horses and then walk through the main floor and see the finish line in person. Not a very lucrative time as betting odds still do not make much sense to me, but enjoyed the experience.

This is simply an awesome place to go spend a couple hours at. I go watch the horses race a few days a week and it's a ton of fun. They have many different vendors there selling food and have horse races every 30 minutes or so. They also have a card club that is open 24/7. They offer many different card games. Overall I think Canterbury Park is a great place to go with friends or family and spend a few hours.

We visited on a Thursday night and they had ten races, each with a nice slate of horses. The betting windows are well run. Parking is good, access is good, admission is fairly cheap, altogether, Canterbury Park is a very good track.
