New owners doing everything on the cheap. The older reviews reflect well on the former owner and grounds staff but the course is a diminishing shadow of what it once was. Greatly reduced maintenance, broken equipment, inadequate pro. Do pro designers ever ask their names be removed from the property? Tom Lehman may want to do that in a few years as the course deteriorates. Was once a great course but now owned by undercapitalized local group so you can expect this once fine course to continue its slide. It has gotten so bad in just over a year that they reportedly have asked members to adopt and maintain the sand traps and plantings around the hole markers. How's that for cheap and underfunded? The pro shop used to be stocked with high quality, brand name merchandise. Now the inventory consists of cheap Chinese imported clothes.

My wife and I played GreyStone on Saturday July 19th. This was the first time ever playing the course and it was very enjoyable. The course is an easy 90 minute drive from Minneapolis and is located about 5 miles from Sauk Centre, MN. The course is Links style with rolling hills and wide fairways. Most fairways are lined by longer fescue that will “eat” errant shots. There is water on a few holes but the only true forced carry is on the signature 17th hole, a short par 3 surrounded on 3 sides with water and trees long. The greens are undulating and very fast. The clubhouse is well stocked and the beverage cart came around 2 times on each 9. Add to that nice electric carts and it equals a great round of golf. If this course were closer to the cities or in the Brainerd lakes area it would cost twice as much. Summer rates are $39 M- Th and $49 Fir – Sun.

Call ask how the golf course was and what shape it was in. Club pro said it was in great shape greens were prefect. Let me tell you he told the truth. We drove 90 miles to play it and when we left there we had not played a course that was that near perfect. Greens were plush fast and putted great. First bunkers that we played in a month that were well kept. fair ways were like have your ball on a T wish we had a golf course like this around my area. price was very good $26 for seniors $ 31 for regular price can't beat this any where. Like finding a oasis in the middle of the desert. Give it a try you won't be disappointed I promise.

Very well kept. A fun atmosphere in the clubhouse. One of the best in the area. Lots of waters and challenges. Stay in the fairway!!!!

The green fees are very reasonable, the greens in great shape! The layout plays like a links on most holes but finishes with three wooded holes for more of a Minnesota feel. They have a great staff as we felt very welcome.

Half of the course is in the very pretty woods and the other is grassy and open. I rained the day we were there and we were given a full refund--we took another round of golf instead. Nice staff good carts.
