Overall if you are a history buff and you are wanting more Twin Cities history after a quick stop by Fort Snelling, then the Sibley House is a cute small historical attraction for you... Home of the first Govenor of Minnesota in the very small town of Mendota, across the river from Fort Snelling, this quaint little home offers private tours of the grounds and home.

I think it is a little bit of a challenge to get to, but worth the trip if you are interested in Minnesota History. I would definitly combine it with a trip to the Alexander Ramsey House in St. Paul. They do well with kids too.
