We did the 8-mile canoe trip. The staff at Clear Waters was wonderful -friendly, safety-conscious, and prompt in picking us up after the 2-hour trip downriver. The equipment was top notch. It was a beautiful way to spend part of gorgeous September day! Next time we'll do the 13-mile trip from St. Cloud.

Four of us took a 3 hour kayak trip down the Mississippi River and had a fantastic time! The service was top notch, friendly, and run like a finely-tuned engine. The kayaks were in like-new shape, too! It was our first kayaking trip on a river and we all had such an enjoyable time that we are ready to book our next trip in a few weeks so that we can experience the Fall colors along the River. We highly recommend this outfitting company!

First time kayaking - we had an AffinityPlus (like GroupOn) deal, and took a day off work for a leisurely trip down the Mississippi. The water is crystal clear and shallow, which was perfect since we were inexperienced. The trip takes about 3 hours, no rapids at all, lots of wildlife (turtles, ducks, geese, bald eagles, fish at a minimum). I highly recommend it. It was quiet on a weekday so we saw only three other people on the water and there were no drunk kids as there often are on river trips in this area. Fabulous!

I bought a kayaking trip as a Christmas present for my husband off of amazon deals and called 2 days before we wanted to use the coupon. We were not able to get kayaks, but was able to switch to a canoe at no charge and we also tacked on another 5 miles to our trip for only $6.00. We had a great time exploring the river and seeing deer, geese, eagles, turtles and even almost caught a fish with no pole! Great trip and I would advise anyone to them. Greatly enjoyed the canoe trip. Excellent service, newer canoes, fair prices. The trip took about 3 hours and was very nice. We'd recommend it.

if you are looking for a fun time and want to enjoy the outdoors this is a great place to go.The staff is very friendly and helpful. The equipment is well maintained and comfortable.

Although most people are from within driving distance to Clearwater MN, we have also had a few travelers from around the world outfit through us. Although we specialize in all kinds of paddle sports, kayak fishing has become a true love of ours being on the banks of one of the best kayak fishing rivers in the state : ) The amount of NuCanoe Frontier lovers continues to grow by leaps and bounds : )

Wow....thanks for a nice review. It is so great to see the family bonding that happens on these trips and really fun for us to get kids out on the river and into nature.

Thanks for the feedback and the nice things you mentioned. Sorry for the scowl-y person....I know who that was and will talk to him for future parking situations. The parking can be a little frustrating at times and because we are in a "Wild & Scenic" stretch of river, we have limitations on what we can do for a parking lot. However we have enough parking for everyone on a weekend as long as we keep an eye on how people park.We try hard to prepare people for the river and can always use more feedback. It is very difficult to explain exactly where sandbars are located because the river conditions change weekly with water levels fluctuating and sand bars shifting. Although the river is down about 6 feet from it's highest level in the spring, it is actually at a very normal level for this time of year and many paddlers do not get caught up on sandbars during their trips (even at it's lowest level). There is always a channel to paddle in but finding it can be tricky some times. We do try to tell all paddlers that they may have to get there feet wet during their trip and hopefully the river safety and paddle technique video that you watched was helpful as it went over various river conditions that could be experienced.I am not sure what rapids that you are referring to. All rivers are rated and marked on a national & world wide scale for rapids and although there may be areas in this stretch of river where there are a few rocks sticking up, it does not have any rated stretches of rapids and it is all considered flat water paddling with gentle current.We do get a large number of in-experienced, beginner, paddlers of all ages from infants to grandparents and have found that as long as they realize they may get their feet wet, and that this is still considered a wilderness experience, they mostly seam to have an excellent time. I am sorry it was not a better experience for you and we will try to make it even better for future beginners.

Thanks so much for taking the time to write a review and being willing to paddle on one of the windiest days of the year : ) It is pretty rare to have the wind issues that you had on the day of your trip. It was strong and seamed to perfectly come up river. The good news is that often the not so perfect weather days turn out to be the days when the wildlife come out more, the fish are biting, and people make memories for a lifetime.
