Drive about an hour to see the mine pits. Online info says open 10-6pm. Difficult to find. Closed during week. If you have children, there is a phenomenal playground right outside town.

For a great outing this is the place. Mountain biking trails range from easy to fairly challenging. Extremely nice get away. Mine pits still clear all summer long. If you can swim try out the pits they are awesome. Paved trail is short but probably one of the most beautiful in the state. Go in the summer for green awesomeness and the fall for stunning fall colors. You have to bike into town for food. Pick a picnic lunch becuase the are so many great spaces and views to relax and eat.

Bike trails are challenging and offer spectacular views of the pit lakes and surrounding countryside. The pit lakes are crystal clear. Great for snorkeling, diving and just swimming. This is a Boundary Waters experience just nine miles east of the Brainerd Lakes area.

A fantastic jewel in the rough....awesome cycling and kayaking....its worth every penny to mountain bike at Cuyana...only 15 minutes east of Brainerd.

We rented mountain bikes in Crosby and biked the "easier" trails. It was a blast! The trails are challenging, but fun, like an amusement park in the wilderness. Bring first aid kit and bug juice : )

This is a day trip must if you visit the Brainerd area. The mountain biking is amazing. Many beautiful lakes filled with fish including trout.
