Well, for kids, this is obviously a no-brainer, but we went as "older adults", just for a fun thing to do together, and have memories of an earlier, less complicated life. Some of the "Greens" could have been better 'manicured', and perhaps an extra nail or two in the waterwheel, but, really, that was part of the charm, plus, its fall, in New England, and the leaves fall nonstop. Staff was fun, and we enjoyed watching the other 'happy people' as we played the course. We played the Original Course, feeling it might be a bit 'dated", like we were :-) and it did not disappoint. Recommend this as a great alternative to violent movies. Plus it got us out and walking a bit! They have TWO 18 hole courses, the Original, and "Blackbeard's Challenge". If you want to play the second course, I think its only 1/2 price of the first. We didn't play 36 holes. But for rip-roaring kids, I cant think of a better expenditure. There are convenient bathrooms inside the main starting shack. There are a few stairs, on the course, and some small climbing. I am not in shape, so I took it easy over the terrain, but there were plenty of benches to sit on during the round. Didn't feel pressured, and people allowed other faster players to play through. Next time you are looking for some "alternative fun", rather than going out to dinner, get out and walk around. It picks up your attitude. I gave one star off excellent, only because the property is showing some wear. From a nostalgia point of view, it adds. It has a LOT of water features, and that is refreshing.
