Not all that big and took about 1.5 hours to do reading pretty much everything. Interesting if you find history of mill towns interesting in general. Maybe a little expensive at $8/each for for what it is.Overall a good stop as part of an afternoon out to sightsee and good out to eat.

Museum is small, but has a lot of rich history!!!!! Great place to check out!!! Cheap price to get in, but worth your time!!!

We truly enjoyed our visit to this little museum. It gave us a feel for what life was like in Manchester during the rise (and fall) of the mills. They had lots of artifacts and some interesting videos. We stumbled upon it after seeing the Lego exhibit at the SEE museum upstairs. This was a far quieter and more interesting experience for us. It was well laid out and informative. The Lowell museum is MUCH bigger, but this small museum gives a fine taste for the local history of the area. We'll definitely return. (I only wish that the Lego exhibit was included in the Mill rather than the science museum).

The Millyard Museum does a great job of pulling together the history of the area from the early Paleo-Indians to the reason why raw cotton was actually important to the people of New England. I loved seeing the photos of the millyard and its workers and reading about the different ethnic groups that made up the people of the Amoskeag Manufacturing Company and filled it's mile of mills. The displays are really interesting and there are several videos that are must-sees to get a real picture of how Manchester became one of the largest cities in New England. There are a lot of really well preserved artifacts from the stone tools used by the local Indians to the looms used for manufacturing dry goods (astounding output per day - see the wall outside the museum entrance) to the first working fire engines. All fascinating!

The museum was well laid out, very organized with some unique displays and pieces. It even covered the the Indian tribes that originated in the area. The only complaint I have is, there are guided tours available of the cellar, but we were never told about it by the young man who took our admission money. We found out later from a friend.

my expectations were low for this museum and I was pleasantly surprised by what I found. It is a small museum outlining the history of the mill yards and it is placement along the Merrimack River. I learned lots of interesting facts. No, it is not as comprehensive as Lowell, Massachsetts but then you do not need all day to visit. We stayed for two hours and I got tired of reading so moved more quickly near the end. Inexpensive entrance fee. Free parking at lower level entrance. Or you can park at other side of building where entrance to SEE Science Center is and take stairs or elevator down to millyard.museum.

We enjoy visiting this museum every few years. It is a quaint and we find the history of the millyard and Manchester interesting. Can get free tickets from the Manchester City Library if you live or work in the city.

This customized museum relates the history of the mill industry that used to provide employment for most of Manchester. Information is readily displayed and easy to read. The museum is spacious. The displays entice the visitor to seek more information, perhaps do pertinent research, on the mills that once provided employment for much of the city and surrounding towns.

This had all of the elements that made this museum a great experience for my wife and I. She is a sociologist and I am mechanically oriented. This museum did a great job covering how the mill system worked and its impact on the local economy. How it all worked and how the people lived are well documented with great displays and some actual examples of some machines.

Spend an hour or two at this museum which chronicles the milling industry. Along the way were explanatory videos; not too long so your attention doesn't drift. Staff is pleasant and helpful.

Walk through an authentic mill building to experience local history and culture from the original Native Americans to the rise and decline of the mills. See the equipment and pictures of the immigrants who worked them. Great for all ages.

Not only is there a good archive of information about Manchester and the surrounding area, but there is a short tourable display area. The library staff are very helpful and ready to ask questions and help anyone find information. Computers are available for free use to search through photos and archives as well.

Although the museum is fairly limited, we thoroughly enjoyed it for the first time when family visited from Florida. We were concerned that our grandchildren, ages 9 and 12 would be a bit too old to enjoy it, I think we as adults enjoyed it every bit as much as they did and they have been to many places in Boston, Philadelphia, New York and Washington, DC.

A good lesson on the history of Manchester, NH and the history of mill life in this town. I always enjoy investigating the history of places I visit and this small museum is very thorough in telling the story.

The museum provides a glimpse of the history of Manchester beginning with Indian relics from 10,000 year ago and continuing through the first third of the 20th century. There is no audio tour and the signage provides only limited information about the exhibits. Few interactive exhibits are present. We did not find the current temporary exhibit especially interesting. All that said, the museum is worth a visit to get a sense of the importance of Manchester in the early Industrial Age.
