Great for a nearby day trip. Cold water and a lot of walking, mostly up hill as it is a ski resort in winter. I think it's ridiculous that they charge for parking.

Recalling memories of action park when I was a kid made me a little nervous about going here with my own kids but my husband was thrilled to hear action park was open again. Although only a smaller section of the original park is actually still in operation we hacked a fun day. The park is small but when we went in July 2014 it was not too crowded even with all the summer camps visiting. Lots of walking up big steep hills and most rides are suitable for over 54". For the younger kids there is a kiddie pool with small slides which is nice. You can sit by the pool while they run around....you can even have a beer from the beer cabana right next to the kiddie pool! We went on every slide/cliff jump and wave pool. The water was very very cold in most of the pools so be sure to pick a hot day. Water was so cold......slides were great... Most were Not the typically slides u find at regular water parks so it was really cool to my kids who had just been to regular waterparks. The cliffs , Tarzan swing and black tube tunnels that spit u out in icy ponds of water were something u can only do here. Again...lots of hills and walking and cold water but Definatley worth at least 1 trip thus summer!!! Did the alpine slide which has Definatley incorporated safety features and it was great! All rides were extremely safe.....the only injuries I saw were at the little kiddie falls where a few toddlers bumped there head or hit nose when they went down each little drop. For such a boring ride it was where I saw the most years! Would Definatley go back next summer again! An old section of original action park is now a BMX downhill course that looked fun but that will have to be another trip to review when we go!

Now called Action Park again. We had a great time (two parents and a 6-year-old). There were plenty of things to do there for a little one, but also quite a few adult/big kid only rides. The alpine bobsled ride was not to be missed (even though it does cost extra). The food there is not good at all and ridiculously priced. Our tickets were free promos, but I'm not sure I would go back at their full price.

High end water park, worth the money. Lots of lifeguards but cold water. Get a good nights sleep before you go. Lots of walking but not terrible. Kids loved it l! Best for kids 8 plus.Very clean, good park.

Ok so we were so excited to come here. My husband and I are younger parents and were here years ago before it closed as teenagers, and we were excited to go on the things that we did while we were younger. So first of all, be prepared to walk up mountains. Second, be prepared for ice cold mountain water. An employee said the water is always that cold there. We got in on a discount because of the hotel we stayed in. If we had paid full price $39.99 for adults and $25 or so for kids, we'd be pretty annoyed. So many rides were closed. The tarzan swing, that black canonball one was closed, a zero g slide was closed, and another one of the major high fun ones. They shouldn't be charging full price if all of the attractions aren't open. I could understand if one or 2 were shut down, but it was more like 5 or more, just plain closed. We were told it was because there was a problem with the water. My kids had fun in the wavepool. My daugher who is 47" was able to go on many different rides so that was nice, she needed an adult on many but that was fine. The slide where you race has a weight minimum. My son wasn't heavy enough, you needed to be 85 lbs I think and my son weighs 70 or 75, so he didn't go and he was ok with that even though it didn't look unsafe. Then we see this kid his age coming down who looks exactly the same size as my 10 year old, and the kid gets stuck in the middle of the slide (it was totally safe, a wide like 8 lane slide and he was in the middle in no danger) but he had to wiggle himself down in order to get to the bottom and it held up the people above on line waiting. So then I knew why there was a weight limit. There's a scale where people can weigh themselves if their unsure. You have to bring your own showers, there's cubbies to put your shoes in before you go on rides. You get a wristband with the date on it to get in. Anyway, we were getting ready to go and we were all about to go on the alpine coaster, so we walk down and buy tickets and find out my kids need their shoes for this ride. Then we walk back to the lockers, get their shoes and walk back down to find a bad storm quickly rolling in and we look over and the coaster is closed for the weather. We go to the lockers and get our stuff, walk up to the ticket booth and get a refund for the coaster tickets. She asked if we were coming back tomorrow and I said no. So we leave and my son is hysterical because he really wanted to go on the coaster but he gets over it, its nature. So anyway, we leave the park about 5pm, and head home. Two days later my father tells me that he wants to bring my kids up there ( an hour away) and go on the coaster. So I call Action Park to see if we can go there just for the ride on Monday (We were at the park on Wednesday) and explain to the manager that we got rained out and we didnt think we could make it back there this summer so can he just let my father and my kids go on the coaster, I have the reciept for the park and tickets, and the manager said no. I didn't talk to him directly, I spoke to a girl named Taylor. She was very sweet, even when I called the 2 days prior and the manager was off. Well I'm not sure if I'd be in a rush to head back here as I didn't feel it was worth it due to all of the closed rides. Perhaps if everything is up and running I'll give it a shot again.

Great overall!! Loved the park! Great for adventurous people and little kids also because they have small slides, jungle gym, sprinklers & lazy river! They're all just for little kids and rest are for everyone else!

Had not been to Action Park in years. Won the tickets to the water park at a fund raiser giving me the opportunity to visit the park again. I actually drove past the park and had to turn around since the signage was not very good. Then when we went to park the attendants didn't really show you where to go and I wound up down a row full of cars had to back up and try again. So then there is the first of many hills to come. Now we enter the park and there is a map of the area which was not very clear. You can't tell where the rides are really located. Height restrictions are not explained clear. So the map supposedly is color coded for the rides to height restriction but they don't show the color for the ride on the map. Because of all the hills you can't even tell where half the rides are. There were no real lines for the rides so no real crowd that was good. If you have young kids under 42' don't even bother there is not much for them to do there. Unless the kid is free a waste of money. This is more of a place for the teenagers who have the stamina for climbing a mountain. Not really a place I will looking to go back to.

Back in the day I would hit action park every summer and have the scars to prove it. Now that it is back I had to go check it out. It was very much the same as I remembered but is much cleaner and safer then the old action park. The good news is the water slides are still pretty crazy and fun. They also have some new rides that I really enjoyed. The Colorado river ride is more intense then the old version and they now make u wear helmets. At first I wondered if the helmets were overly precautionary but after going on I was happy I wore a helmet. That ride is insane and hitting heads on other people in the tube or hitting your head on the slide is almost a guarantee. The cannonball is just as I remembered and the water is just as cold as I remember too. So be prepared for taking an ice bath in the cold mountain water that is in most of the rides. The new alpine slide is a lot of fun and reminds me of the old one but is much safer since you cant get road rash since it is connected to a metal track instead of being loose on a concrete track. It is a small extra fee to ride but worth it. They also have a great sky ride with amazing views of the mountains which is free and u can watch the mountain bikers do crazy tricks which was cool. Overall this might become a summer tradition once again and I highly recommend it. Be ready for a workout the hills can be intense but worth it.

WOW! this place is truly one of a kind. This water park is so adventure packed you can not miss it.Me and some friends were coming to NYC/Jersey from Boston for the weekend, and someone mentioned this park, so we took a detour, and went out of our way for it. TOTALLY WORTH IT! The park has so many one of a kind rides, and everything is blended in to the mountain. Lots of walking, but loads of fun. There's a cliff jump. We went on some crazy raft ride that you had to wear full covered helmets. We thought to ourselves how crazy could it be... by the end we were all screaming from excitement.I know i will be back. I will probably make a trip just for this park... its just not your typical water park. I did see it featured on travel channels XTREME waterparks, and for good reason!!!

We had a great time visiting last year. We had an almost-five year old and the hills were testing, but the weather was good and we were able to enjoy the wave pool and some of the rapids. Now, we did find one of the rapids to be quite shallow, to the point where my friend scraped his back, and I found this a little concerning (we were seated as per the guidance). The water was very cold as it was fresh from the mountain melt, but we just had to take a deep breath and get on with it. Definitely would agree with an earlier comment about taking some kind of footwear you can keep on on the rides as the floor is not only hot but a bit rough. It was a bit pricey, but there were nice areas for young kids and adults alike and the setting was good. Would definitely recommend.

This water park is awesome. My boyfriend and I had such a great time.. This water park is not like any normal waterpark it is "old school" and basically you control the action hence the name "action park" the cliff jumping and Tarzan swing were some of my favorite attractions. The new zero-g slide is also awesome. It is very family friendly, but a lot of walking up hills on hot pavement is involved.Be sure to bring water shoes or flip flops to wear while walking to and from the rides. The water is also very cold because it is from the mountain. Overall, this was such a great summer day out and I will be back before the summer ends or next year!

A friend warmed me about the hills at this place but he really left out the amount of hills you will be going up all day. First we get there and there are park worker measuring kids to check for height. If your kid is over the so call 48 inch stick the measure them with them you paying of and adult ticket. But here is the cash this doesn't guarantee that your child will get on all the rdes over 48 inches height requirement. once you get up all those hills ride after ride and trust me you will be hiking even to go the bathroom. The ride are not worth all that hiking and waiting there were only two ride we enjoyed out all the entire park. We were done with the park in less the 3 hours like i said park is not worth it. Over price OVERRATED. Save your money go somewhere else.

getting to the park was easy from the hotel. once you exit the hotel lobby, make a left and walk across the parking lot for entrance to the park. an employee explained that we had to redeem the tickets at the ticket window for wristbands for access to the park. The security personnel that allowed us access to the park were friendly and treated us with respect. once inside the park, be ready for a work out. the rides used the natural landscape of the mountain and there was a lot of uphill walking. the park is true to it's name "Action Park".most if not ALL of the rides are extreme.

Visited the "reborn" Action Park last month. I'd rather travel the 1.5 hours from my home to Vernon, NJ than the 35 minutes to Splish Splash in Riverhead (LI). Crowds are less, park is cleaner.Having said that, the Colorado River ride now requires a helmet (ride is a lot bumpier than the last time I remember it). The Alpine Mountain Coaster is not a separate fee. According to the attendant, they were having problems with people "who should't be riding it" understanding English (his words, not mine). So now they charge $5 a ride.As you may or may not know, there is a lot of uphill walking (obviously, since it's on a ski mountain). It's all good -- we could all use the exercise.

Fun water park. Lower-key than other parks - doesn't have the hordes of teenagers roaming around that you find at many other parks. Fun rides for all ages and thrill levels. May not be ideal for the 16 year old looking for the ride of his life, but definitely a good place for a family with elementary school age children wanting to have a fun day as a family.
