We had a great time in Smithville....there were many small shops with a huge variety of items as well as many things for your children and grandchildren to do. I recommend the children to ride the train, they will love it.All the shop keepers were kind and helpful. We will be back when we come thru this area again.

The village has a variety of restaurants and shops. There is adequate free parking and the children will love it (train ride, wooden bridge over the lake and of course toys) They have festival during the year. I enjoy the warm spring and summer time strolls with my family and friends.

Lots of cute shops. Better to visit in the summer though as some stores were closed and it was very cold!!

This is a nice little stop for a meal or an hour or two to stroll around. Unique colonial feel to it. Shops are fine for browsing.

There is so much happening in Smithville - from the many events that are scheduled throughout the year, to the rides for kids (merry-go-round and ride-on train), to wine-tasting at either of the 2 Tomasello Wine Shops. The stores are varied - you can buy anything and everything there - from wine, gourmet cheeses or coffee to Minnetonka moccasins, unique jewelry, clothes, wood or ceranmic crafts, antiques, you name it, they have it! A nice walk around the lake on the brick sidewalks to feed the geese/ducks . . . or sit at one of the picnic tables and enjoy a dessert, snack or slice of pizza from one of the restaurants or pastry shops. This town is perfect if you have small children - lots of stuff for the kiddies to do to keep them from getting bored.

My friend and I visited Historic Smithville and Village Green in the afternoon so we could do some shopping and photography before dark, then we had a bite to eat followed by watching the dancing trees on the lake, set to Christmas music, after dark. The area looked larger on the maps than it was in person, so it wasn't as much walking as I anticipated, which is a good thing. The Christmas decorations were very festive and helped put us in a jolly Holiday mood.It was not crowded despite it being a Friday evening just 2 weeks before Christmas. There are shops to fit anyones taste, that is for sure! You're bound to find things you like! Our favorite shop was Country Ducks. Lots of items that are cute, useful, well made...and the prices are so reasonable you will think you've read the tags wrong! We'll definitely be headed back for that particular shop sometime in the future. We ate at AJ's on the Lake, a simple almost diner type atmosphere. The food was good and reasonably priced. We needed to warm up so we had grilled cheese sandwiches. My friend raved over the chili she ordered, I enjoyed the chicken noodle soup very much. Topped off with a decafe coffee, we were fueled and warmed to go out and view the lit trees on the lake and finish shopping.

Wide variety of shops, food, coffee, antiques, souvenirs, etc...Kids will love the train, and RC boats. If you have a eclectic taste in collectables, or, want a relaxing stroll without high pressure pitchmen bothering you. This is the place.
