We are always home in NJ for Christmas. For the past several years, we have been going to the Algonquin for their New Year's Eve show. This year, they surpassed all expectations. "The McCartney Years" was a super-spectacular production. Very talented singers and musicians. The Algonquin is a small, old venue in downtown Manasquan, NJ. You have to get there early to get a good parking spot.

The theatre is old but nice. Has it's own charm & is walking distance from many little shops and eateries - very close proximity to the Squan Tavern. Seats are comfortable and great venue for variety of events.

Went to my yearly Father Alphone concert at this theater. The theater just got new seats and in terms of viewing the stage there isn't a bad seat. It is a rectangular theater, plain looking but the acoustics are great. A microphone really isn't even needed by the singers. Now that Father Alphone is retired he will be doing more programs with the theater. Upcoming is his "Everything you wanted to know about music but we afraid to ask". The 2015 season includes "La Traviata". Algonquin Arts Theatre gives quality entertainment without the hassle of going to NYC.

The Algonquin Arts Theatre in Manasquan is a non-profit theater with an educational mission that also offers excellent entertainment. During the school year there are wonderful weekly educational shows with live actors which are attended by busloads of school children and which are open to the public for a nominal fee. In June, the theater usually hosts local dance school recitals so that the students can feel what it is like to be on a professional stage. On most weekends, the Algonquin shines with many wonderful and varied productions. There amateur productions of Broadway shows that are of professional caliber, dramatic plays which at times feature other local or Philadelphia theater groups, performances of the Nutcracker ballet at Christmas, Irish performers in time for St Patrick's, a "crooner" for Valentine's Day, a "tribute" act for New Year's (in 2014 it's Paul McCartney) and three annual concerts by the Orchestra of St Peter conducted by Father Alphonse Stevenson. The ticket costs are reasonable and the 1938 theater, which had been a movie house, has recently been refurbished to its Art Deco glory. If you arrive early you can stroll Main Street in Manasquan, which has an assortment of small shops catering to every need, or you can dine within walking distance at places which offer cuisine as varied pizza, burgers, great Italian food or even "fine" dining.

The theater has had a face lift with new seats, and I don't think there is a bad seat in the house. The sound is great, the views are great and the all the performances here are fun!

Great place at a reasonable price to see top-notch performances, music, dance and theater. It is a gem located in downtown Manasquan.

We have been to this theater a number of times usually for the off Broadway productions and a few of the other programs, all done very professionally and reasonably priced. If there was one area where improvement can be made would be the seating, the seats are out dated and on the cramped side.

My wife and I have found the shows here to be perfict for us as we can see the shows, based on older times and be home in time to watch the ball drop from the comfort of our bedroom! I forgot our tickets for the show but had no problems getting new ones printed by the friendly box office staff.

I have been here several times for all kinds of programs: Plays, Musical performances etc. It has always been very professional with great programs with lots of variety.

Thanks for taking time to review Algonquin Arts Theatre! We're currently fundraising to upgrade the seats through naming opportunities. Original to the theatre when it was build in 1938, the seats were re-upholstered when the movie theatre was upgraded to host performing arts events in the early 1990s. Feel free to call our Box Office for more information!
