Except for an idiot course ranger who thought a 2 hour 2 minute nine hole time was too slow; a thoroughly enjoyable round.

I always look forward to playing Twisted Dune on our Ocean City vacations, but this time not so much. We grabbed the 6:30am tee time and were looking for our usual fast fun 3.5 hrs round and be back on the beach by 10. The course even advertises these early morning tee times as fast play times, but not today. 4 hours 40 minutes? The 3 some in front of us averaged 7 tee shots per hole. The course rangers, when asked to help, said they would but they didn't.The course was in very nice shape, but the pace of play was awful and destroyed any rhythm and feel for the course, and at the end of 4 hours and 40 minutes we were frustrated, angry, and minus 100 dollars.

What an amazing Golf Course. I played what I will call a great round for myself and still got my but kicked. When playing this course its almost advisable to just leave you drive in the bag and always take the safe shot. One of the top 10 courses I have ever played.

Very good condition. I liked the wide fairways, undulating fairways and greens. The staff was friendly and helpful. Reasonable fees.

Loved it. Beautiful, the drives between holes made me feel like I was in a cross between disney world and arizonla. TIGHT. Course tee boxes, fairway, sand traps and greeens were excellent. This is what golfing should be. Will be back.

Really neat course - they used the natural landscape of the shore and scrub pinelands to its strength creating a links course with rolling fairways, long dense beach grass, and slanted greens. I think it is a very strong course for both experts and weekend golfers- the open fairways make it not overly punishing, and the tourney tees are plenty of a challenge if you want it.I thought the service was good, the range was nice and conditions well kept except for the traps whose sand is too heavy for normal play - but that is expected in this area.

The course is only a 10 minute drive from Ocean City. The links experience is interesting but be prepared to lose a lot of balls in the tall grass if you miss the fairways. Clubhouse is nothing much to rave about. Neither are the carts and dirt paths. There are many better options for golfing in the area.

unique for the jersey shore. back tees are as challenging and fair as you get. better be able to move it 260+ to play back there. i love this course! condition is good.

Well played there on a Saturday around 2pm. We arrived about an hour early for out tee time to spend some time on the putting/chipping green before heading out. When we arrived we found out they were running behing about 30-45 minutes on tee times. They started to get things caught up by our tee time but still running 20 minutes behind.Total round took almost 6 hours to play and we played the last hole in the dark. We waited on every shot for the group in front to clear out. The groups behind us probably did not finish their round. Saw the ranger once and he just seemed to be driving around but did not appear to be to be attempting to speed up play.Course was in good shape. Greens were nice, not very fast but rolled true. Fairways were well kept and the tee boxes were level and in good shape.Course was not overly tough. Lots of sand but wide open fairways so it took a very errant shot to get yourself in trouble. But if you got in trouble it was very difficult to find your ball in the high grass lining the mounds of sand down the sides of the fariways. Sand was very difficult to play out. There were a ton of bunkers but very little sand in them so made it very difficlut to get out of them.Very nice layout and the elevetion changes which you would not expect at the shore in New Jersey.Recommend playing the course but give yourself some extra time to play your round.

I play at a private club, but when my friends and I are in South Jersey, we make it a point to play at Twisted Dunes. Sure, there are a few other standouts in the area, namely Renault Vineyard course, but the layouts and conditions pale in comparison to this gem. The architect and the current crew have made this into a one-of-a-kind layout with huge dunes, and cliffs even, on a relatively flat piece of land. The course does meander up and down, relatively, but the real attraction is the dense vegetation that almost makes this course look like a desert course in Arizona. It's links golf, NJ style. The greens are usually great, and the fairways are well-maintained. I would recommend this course to someone looking for a unique alternative to the same old courses.

Took 2 and 1/2 hours to play the front nine. No ranger on the course. Asked at golf shop why it was taking so long and they told me that we were only slightly behind. I said that we made the reservation, weI were told that it plays in 4 and 1/2 hours. They told me that if I did not like it I could leave, with no refund offered. Do not come here because most players are here for the day and THEY ONLY CARE ABOUT SQUEEZING IN A FEW MORE GOLFERS TO MAXIMIZE THEIR INCOME.

Haven't played a lot of shore courses, even though we visit the Jersey shore almost every year. Looked this place up on line before we left, and it looked pretty good. After playing it, that was an understatement.Links-style, wide open in spots, it also was winding on most holes--with the trademark "twisted dunes" coming into play early and often. Plenty of well-placed traps to go along with the dunes. It made for the necessity of an accurate drive, and even more on a second shot. not incredibly long, but some holes had plenty of carry off the tees to get to good grass. Not a lot of water, and what there was, didn't come in play. A few holes--a long par 3 in particular--had an impressive elevation change-which I wasn't expecting in this area. Course was very well-maintained. Greens especially.Great staff. Tee times were a little too tight for my liking, but backups were thinned out fairly quickly, so it really didn't disturb the tempo. No 19th Hole, but the pro shop was well-stocked.Tough course, in my opinion, but a lot of fun. Liked it so much, went back a few days later. Still just as tough, but also just as fun. Will definitely return to this Jersey Shore gem!
