The Fox and the Hound is on the edge of the Menlo Park Mall near the entrance to Macy's. It offers a noisy and large bar/pub experience with lots of big screen TVs playing sports and news, as well as some pool tables in the back. The atmosphere is stereotypical for a large bar/pub. Lot's of dark wood, somewhat dim lighting with bright TVs all around. The staff is friendly and accommodating. The bar food is good, but not amazing. This is a good place to take a group for drinks after work, or a holiday gathering, or to stop for a drink after shopping at the mall. Not great for kids - not a great date night for anyone wanting quiet conversation.

It's a sports bar..with a cover charge. No, seriously. A cover charge. For a crappy sports bar. The first time I went there I nearly laughed lost it laughing. that should be your first sign of how low quality this joint is. If you're not a dance club, and you have to have a cover charge...you're business is garbage. If you're there, you're not there for the food or for quality atmosphere and drinks. You're there for sports, beer, shots, and the hope of leaving with a girl/guy. Anything beyond that and you're stretching the limit of Fox and Hound's capacity. The wait staff is nice enough, they do their job. The bartenders are competent as long as what you're ordering is as simple as a beer or pouring one to two ingredients in a glass. Once you start ordering more creative drinks they basically lose it, and water it down because what are you going to do, complain? Once you finally drink enough you'll forget anyway and if not, there's 300 other people there watching UFC and funneling the same watered down crap down their throats as you were but couldnt care cause they're out, there's beer, there's overpriced microwaved bar food, and most importantly there's women/men!So if you enter Fox and Hounds with that frame of mind, you're good. If you're looking for quality mixed drinks, good food, or beer above Carona/Coors/Bud/Sam Adams....you're going to be severely disappointed and there's enough people to replace you that it wouldn't matter anyway.

This place was crowded and very friendly service. The food was good mostly finger food. The atmosphere was definitely a good place. It's a great happy hour after work place to go to
