A very nice museum for a town the size of Roswell. Great variety of works and special showings. Some well-known New Mexico artworks that are must-sees.

This museum has Robert Goddard's tools and some of his rocket parts. He was a pioneer in liquid propellant as a rocket fuel. Very educational and entertaining. Free admission. Make a donation if you like!

We enjoyed the different art exhibits with the explanation of how they are done. The Western exhibit which has a plethora of artifacts in separate displays from the days of the conquistadors to the present time. The Goddard exhibit was interesting and filled in a lot of details in the story of rocket flight. I would definitely recommend this as a place to visit in Roswell.

Being free and we had the day in Roswell we called and viewed the art (interesting) and other exhibits (enjoyed the Goddard/Space info).

Great free museum. Had art and history and a gift shop. Particularly liked the Goddard section. Had lots about his rocket research. Worth a stop.

Beautiful exhibits and very educational. My 12 yrs old son was impressed even though he is not an artsy student. My in-laws from GA really enjoyed the visit as well.

There was some nice art and the western history display was good but I really came to see the exhibit on Robert H Goddard. As somewhat of a space junky, I have been aware of this great American rocket pioneer for almost as long as I can remember. It was a thrill to see some of the actual rockets he used and a mock-up of his laboratory. I just wish there was even more space devoted to this great man.The museum is free. One note, if you use a GPS to go to the museum, it will take you to the back and you will discover a locked door. Go around to the front (the side facing the Roswell Visitor's Center). Better yet, park in the large lot between the visitor's center and the museum.

I love the peace and quiet to take everything in. I love the displays they have. I love that you're not bothered and can go at your own pace.

The museum is good, but it's always been the same for as long as i can remember (20+ years). The art and exhibits are all the same with few additions.

Average fair but the sellers were all very nice and the had some unique items. Lots of western item as expected. An amazing artist from Ruidoso made some lovely wind chimes from reclaimed silverware.

In addition to Peter Hurd paintings, the rocket and local history exhibits are all very interesting and well done.

Nice, small museum packed with great exhibits, including local artists and history including Robert Goddard, Western History and Beyond, contemporary and classic works from Peter Hurd, Henriette Wyeth, and Carlos Quinto Kemm. Also a few Georgia O'Keeffe pieces, and a well stocked gift store. Admission is free, but donations are appreciated.

I was pleasantly surprised by this museum! They do have a Georgia O'keeffe aping worth the Goddard space lab. And, the native American displays are stunning.

Most of the displays are newspaper clippings although there is information about Air Force pilots sworn to secrecy and civilians threatened with horrible things if they spoke of the incident. A radio broadcast plays on an old radio with a tickertape machine next to it and a display of mechanical "aliens" stand around a sad looking saucer. Downtown looks like any other except with an alien theme. Somehow I thought it would be more exciting.

If you are going to Roswell don't miss this museum. It full of local history and lots about the Goddard Rocket. There is also an art exhibition that is worth seeing if you are into art. The museum closes at 5pm and I suggest you give yourself an hour. We went straight there when we got into town and were disappointed there was no cafe to get a drink of coffee.
