It is a beautiful course and maintained very well. However, I found it frustrating to play there as a woman. I couldn't possibly reach any hole in regulation and if it was a par 4, my 3rd shot had to be with a long iron or wood onto the green, rather than a chip or pitch. They really need to put in a more forward tee. My husband also found it too long for him and he is a very long hitter!

I was in Las Cruces, NM recently for a family members college graduation from NMSU. During our 4-day visit I had the pleasure of visiting the Red Hawk Golf Club. I did not actually golf - but did spend enough time at Red Hawk to be able to drive around and view the entire course. As mentioned previously - this golf course is in a rather remote location (5 -10 minutes from the city itself) but the remoteness of the course is what makes it a 'little slice of heaven'. The grounds are meticulous, golf carts and other equipment sparkling and every staff member who I encountered was professional, friendly and eager to make sure my time at Red Hawk was a true pleasure. Thank you Red Hawk (and your fabulous employees) for a beautiful course and I look forward to my next visit!

This is a great golf course - challenging to say the least. Some of the greens are humped back and the surrounding water seems to suck the ball in. Great view of the mountains - snow covered in the winter (and still playable). Facilities are basic - may improve in the future along with the economy and therefore local building.

They are eventually planning to building housing in this area but for now, it is in the middle of nowhere. However, the scenery is beautiful and the golf course is green but no trees. The staff is friendly and there is a dusk special of $10. Nice club house.

The Red Hawk Golf Course opened in the fall of 2012 and is being improved continuously. The staff is very friendly and helpful, bringing you a cart to your car. Green fees are reasonable but ask about special rates in the club house. The course has cool season grass so it is green all year. There are no trees but stay out of the desert. Drives are best in the wide fairways as the rough is rather thick. The course is well bunkered although the sand can be soft. The greens are smooth and fast. They do have a slight problem with golfers not repairing their ball marks. The greens also have false fronts and sides so it is best to hit to the center of the greens until familiar with the course.A round of golf usually takes 4 hours or less. You can follow with lunch and/or libations in the club house. The club house is not fancy but the food is good and reasonably priced. All in all an excellent golf experience.

They took a perfectly good piece of NM desert and tried to make a golf course out of it.This property is well designed, constructed and maintained; for low handicap golfers. If you are a senior or average golfer you may find this course to tough to enjoy. As a senior golfer I found the sand traps too steep to enter and step out of.At most greens you had to climb over hills to get to the green and return. Most tees required climbing hills from and returning to the cart.In keeping with a strange tradition in golf, they ban carts from access to the fairways on par 3’s.I have never heard a good explanation for this other than all the other courses do it.Last comment is they ban carts from the parking lot.If I have to explain why this is not senior friendly do not read further. If they want to sell building lots they should consider the buyer.

Great course, just a little off the beaten path. Husband made his first hole in one there, and the first one for the course. I wish they would put his picture up with the rest of the group, but we got one of the flags which was cool.Definately a course to play, but Watch out for rattlesnakes.

Very good fairways, excellent but difficult greens, wonderful and kind staff.. all these advantages at a very reasonable price.

This is a very challenging links style course that punishes guys that like to hit long slices and then try to recover from the rough. If you don't stay on the fairway here you will likely never find your ball. Even if you do find it, the rough is fearsome indeed, especially in the Summer, when you may find a rattlesnake wrapped around your ball. All of the bunkers, fairway and greenside, are well-groomed with deep, soft sand and high lips. There are no trees and the course snakes around rolling hills on the high plains at the base of the Dona Ana Mtns, so it is exposed to all kinds of wind. Keep your shots low to minimize the effect of the wind. It's better to hit an accurate stroke from a little further back on the fairway than to try to recover from the rough or a bunker. In addition, the course boasts a spectacular 270 deg view of the area, a comfortable clubhouse with decent food & beverages, and a staff that is cheerful, enthusiastic, and friendly.

My favorite golf course including: difficulty, customer service, atmosphere, views and greens, has always been Mesa Verde Country Club in Southern California-my home town, until now! Red Hawk is my new favorite. Difficulty, customer service, atmosphere, views and greens are amazing. Great game of golf- course is a challenge!! I swear I was at a course in Southern California when it comes to sitting on their patio. So peace, out away from everything. It's a track but well worth it.

I've played out at Red Hawk many times and it is a treat each time. The view from the course it amazing, the course it self is in fantastic shape and the staff is so very kind and helpful. Some may say it is a bit expensive but is very competetive with the other courses in town and offers some great deals and discounts. As well, the food and beverage side of the course is top notch. The food was delicous and the bar had a great variety. This course is definitely one of the best in New Mexico and I see it only getting better!

Las Cruces New Mexico has great weather year round, but it's needed a course like this for a long time, its got great practice facilities and is alot of fun to play.. It can play tough but its still fair... I believe it's a hidden gem and possibly one if the best courses in the state.

The staff was exceptional. They were very accommodating and couldn't have been nicer, including giving us complimentary range balls. We found the course if great condition as far as grass on the fairways. It would not be a course for everyone - "links" style course - very open with few visible targets. I'm an average golfer and my husband is a very good golfer. The course was beautiful and I would have rated it higher except I often felt unrewarded for a good shot. Hidden bunkers, forced carries and high wind made it hard for me to enjoy. I lost LOTS of golf balls.

Not much grass in the fairways. Suspect it needs some time for the grass to mature. Premium for hitting it straight as the rough is deep.
