We hiked here twice during our month in NM. It had a lot of different plants and the mountains were good for photograph. The trails were in good shape, but more signage would have been nice, because of all the trails.

I do wish people would clean up after their dogs but otherwise this is a very nice hike. Any hiking in and around Las Cruces one is apt to meet friendly folks and even friendlier dogs.

about a 3 mile hike that you CAN take your best friend with you. Hard to believe that people lived out here long ago.

After the summer monsoon is the best time, as can see not only lots of flowers, but the dripping springs will really be active, and can see many smaller waterfalls in the area, Hiking is not for the weak at heart, but see Hermit's Cave, remains of the turn of the century TB Sanitarium, and great flora and fauna.

This place apparently closes at 5pm now... According to two other cars who got there the same time as me, they used to close at 7pm... their website never mention operating hours.

Relatively unimproved trail seemed like easy walking from the parking lot. Day use only, and free. Would recommend.

I have taken my 11 year old hiking here. We always Rock climb up to the pools. One of the best trails in Las Cruces

Right on the outskirts of Las Cruces in Organ Mountains. A short hike into the canyon, well marked trail a few mile loop. Beautiful views of the mountains and surrounding valley area. Can be hot - wear good shoes and bring water.

I shouldn't recommend this hike. It is relatively undiscovered. But, here is my traitorous review: The trail takes a large loop without much elevation change, so is easy for everyone. The view is marvelous, it is peaceful, and you feel 100 miles from the city because the canyon opens up after you enter a narrow portal. Also, there is a hidden treasure of a waterfall if you dare venture a little further. Look for it yourself. The area residents are not hiker-friendly, so don't park on the road outside the gate. It is a premier hike. No facilities. None. So, be prepared.

This is a wonderful hike, both into the canyons themselves, or if you only go back to the old ranch. We've done both and had great experiences.

Easy drive with a short dirt road approach to reach. Nice elevation going up hill. A few miles round trip. It looks like there are several trails leading up hill that are not part of the trail system. This takes much less effort to reach than driving the long several miles of dirt/stone that leads to Dripping Springs. However, much of this trail reminds me of Dripping Springs. I like it.

Trails here are well marked and the view of the valley hard to beat. Usually quiet with lots of parking . Trails nice and clean which reflects well on the users of the park.

You can pick your trails from easy to more difficult. The trails are clearly marked and the views are terrific of the valley. Hikers respect the trail and there is little to no trash left behind.

This hike into the Oregon Mountains is not only free, but also dog friendly. The hike takes about 2 hours if you walk slowly and take a break at the waterfall you will find at the end of the trail (it's not much of a waterfall but welcome to New Mexico). There is almost no shade on the gravel path and some smaller dogs we have taken can't handle the trek. Bring plenty of water and try to begin you hike early in the day when it is still nice and cool (we shoot for 9-10 am). The trail is uphill the entire way in and downhill the entire way out so it is easy to return on tired legs. When it rains (almost never) the short stretch of dirt road to Soledad can wash out and become a little treacherous, but the average car can usually make the journey.
