Sounds kind of pricey $25 per person or so, but it includes the meal. Go early so you can wander around the old town and take pictures with streep performers. They have pony rides and shooting range which are kind of cool. They also have some stores selling country stuff and souveniers. The dinner has single serving meat and free refils on sides. The dinner singing show is quite good a little bit country with some comedy and local favorites. The only complaints I have are the website does not have a easily accessible calendar for what days they are open. And they do not sell booze there (not sure if you can BOB).

Chuck wagon food and good old western entertainment. What more can I say it's always great. A yearly destination...

Authentic chuckwagon dinner - some had brisket, some had chicken - both were YUMMY! This is a "must do" if in Ruidoso!! The music is top notch, the food is YUMMY and the staff was great!

Family with a two year old had a blast! We preordered tickets online and had seating assignments for us at the ticket booth. The little town is made up very cool with a black-smith shop, church, Candy shop, jail, and general store. The pony ride was actually a horse ride and "Socks" did very well. Some people have written complaints about the cost. I must say that for all you get to do including a chuck wagon style meal and a 1.5 hour western singing show... That's actually a great deal. The whole experience went from 5:30-9:30pm. We have done a similar experience in Jackson hole and this actually has more to do, especially for the little ones. The folks are just great. The one warning I can agree with that another poster mentioned is the lighting. This was a full moon night and younger eyes can navigate easily, but the majority of the crowd this Monday were seniors. One couple, who had to be in their 80's fell and rolled down a hill. Fortunately neither were hurt. No one at the facilities were notified, as the gentleman was more embarrassed than hurt. This may be a bigger issue and should be noted. With their attentiveness to their patrons I am sure they don't realize how dangerous it can be. A great idea to bring a flash light...

We recently went to the Flying J Ranch and took my wife's elderly father and step-mom. We got there early enough to walk around through the grounds and see the Fiddler's show and the funny gun fight before the dinner and music began. What a great time and very nice family fun. No vulgarity, great food and music. This is a fun place for families that enjoy doing things together across generations, from the very young to the very old!

We arrived early to do the pistol shoot and enjoy the gunfight show. We received huge portions of food. Yes it's mass produced but it's very tasty and they feed several hundred people quickly. We enjoyed listening to the western music even though it's not something we would normally like. The show is fast paced and funny and very entertaining. It's well worth the money.

Arrive early to enjoy the festivities: pistol shooting, horse riding for kids, panning for gold, shopping, and station photo ops. The Ranch gang put on a pre-dinner gunfight show, a fiddler routine, and a deputy school training for kids. Dinner is in a big wooden opera house with gravel flooring (no need to worry about toddlers making a mess!). One of the highlights is how dinner is served: slop style, but with delicious barbeque. The ranch makes enough food for everyone to get seconds! Soooo worth the price. The show is entertaining and the experience is well worth the money. Take extra cash for ice cream, pony rides, and pistol shooting. $20 went a long way for a family of 4.

We had a very fun evening at the Flying J Ranch. Even our teenagers enjoyed it! The food was pretty average, but we did not go away hungry!

I went to the Flying J Ranch in Altro, NM for one of their last open evenings of the season. The Ranch will close next weekend, the 12th of October .It's a great attraction for both children and adults. There were a lot of activities for the kids, including a horseback ride. It has outbuildings to visit, including a Blacksmith Shop, Teepee, and schoolhouse. The highlight of the evening was the meal and the entertainment. The food is served chuck wagon style, tin plates, tin cups. Everyone sits in the barn, at long wooden tables. Not fancy, but fun.The staff and owners were the entertainment. Excellent country western music!Defiantly a must go if you are visiting the Ruiodoso area. One warning-if you visit in the late summer/early fall dress warmly. It gets cold up there!

This a great place for young and old. The food was yummy and the music was fun! Our whole family really enjoyed it! The only drawback is the activities before the show usually have a longish waiting line, which can be hard with little ones. The deputy training school was cute and the kids get a certificate from the sheriff. Fun and worth the $$

The entire family went here on my son's honeymoon. Yes, entire family! Nestled in the mountains near Ruidoso New Mexico is this little gem. All the folks working there are very friendly and go out of their way to accommodate guests. There are lots of things for kids including a horse ride, gold panning etc. The "street fight" is entertaining and the performers interact with the audience. Everyone wears many hats at the Flying J. The chuck wagon dinner was abundant and tasty. Seconds are allowed after everyone has been served. After many years they have the service routine down pat and it goes quickly. The musical entertainment is quite fun as well . No one was disappointed in our group and I didn't hear any bad comments from other people. Some would think the cost for the dinner is a bit stiff but outside activities and inside entertainment are all inclusive. There is a small fee for horse rides. I have an overseas visitor arriving soon. I will try to go again as they visit.

What a great time!! We have been going to the Flying J Ranch on vacations for over 30 years. All the employees make you feel so welcomed. The chuck wagon food is wonderful and they have a great system in place to serve a lot of people in a very short time. Lots of food with seconds available. If you go away hungry its your own fault. Setting is an old western town in the pines. After dinner comes some of the best family entertainment you'll ever experience. Great western classics with a touch of humor. All the Flying J entertainers are so talented. Create a wonderful memory for the entire family by enjoying an evening at the Flying J Ranch!!
