grand view point

This hike is only 2 miles long, but it offers a nice view and lots of wild flowers along the way. It only takes an hour to do the whole thing, but it is a starting point to longer hikes as well.

Good directions in previous review--road is unmarked but the good directions will make it easy to find. The trail is a bit steep, but you don't have to run up it, and it is a lovely walk through the trees. BTW, trekking poles are wonderful to use on steeper trails; they put your upper body to work, giving your legs some relief. Also good for picking your way across streams--extra point of balance (no streams on this hike). On this hike there are two great spots at the top--don't leave without checking out the second one a few steps beyond what you would think would be "Grand View"--both are wonderful. the best time for photos would be early morning as the sun hits the peaks; sometimes the afternoon gets a bit hazy. This trail continues on to one of the lakes; we walked a little beyond the Grand View sign, but thought we had seen the best at the top.

If this hike is a little challenging, an equally awe inspiring and outstanding hike lies along the main HWY, into/out of Jackson. Look for a gate mid-point on the HWY. This will lead you down a roadway and close to the river and at the foot of the Teton Range. Pet friendly and rarely used when the gate it closed! What a treat and the most spectacular views! Spend a little time…and breath it all in. You will most likely, never want to leave!

This is a short 2.2 mile hike. It is a little steep, but very manageable. The views of Mount Moran and the Teton Rang are awesome. Also a good view to the east of Two Ocean Lake. The trailhead is a little tricky to find, but worth the effort. It is on a gravel road about a mile north of Jackson Lake Lodge, turn right. The trailhead is a little way up the road and we drove slowly as it is quite rough and bumpy. Take your time and you will be just fine, we did not have a high clearance vehicle and made it with no problems.
