Great exhibits that change every year. Professionally done exhibits really highlight and tell the story of Sheridan County.

This is a small museum full of interesting facts and the history of the county. Passing through Sheridan, don't know much about the area, here you'll find the interesting history that makes Sheridan County important in the west. From the Indian Wars and coal booms Sheridan County has played a great roll in our history. The museum is walking distance from the Hampton Inn and you should plan on a hour there.

We arrived in Sheridan WY a little earlier than we had planned so we were looking for something to do while our hotel room became available. Just down the street is the Sheridan County Museum, so we thought let’s give it a shot. Cost was $3 for seniors so there was no big loss here. The first half of the museum was devoted to the towns various teams: football, swimming, soccer, etc, etc. That is not history. Boring….The other half of the museum was dedicated to it’s real history and it’s life as a coal mine. And also how it played in the roles of the native American wars with the white man. They had some very good dioramas created to depict various periods of time in Sheridan history as well as a video outlining how events in the area played into what happened at Little Big Horn. The museum is not large. There is also a gift/souvenir shop – of course.

From their current temporary exhibit of sports in the area through the years to video and dioramas and artifacts of the coal mining in the area and the indian wars and the logging, this is one fine gem of a county museum. Be sure and listen to the story of the first log flume which got to speeds of over 75 miles per hour!

I think this museum is nice if you're interested in a county's history, but there was nothing really phenomenal about the museum in general, that you can't find anywhere else. I stayed about 20 minutes, then I left.

It is a neat little museum that shows the history of Sheridan. From sports to the old west. The most fun thing in there was the hunt for the "lost lady" in one of the town's recreations. (when you go, you'll know what I'm talking about). It was an okay stop, worth seeing if Sheridan's history interests you.

Excellent presentation of Sheridan County's past. My father was born and raised in Sheridan therefore our family has donated a few items for display. The museum is laid out well and very accessible to all. Right off of Interstate 90 on a hill overlooking the town. Great view of the Big Horn Mountains also.

The local history is well represented in this log clad, modern building. Small admission fee. All access. Right off interstate, close to motels and downtown area.

Our museum is very well arranged for easy flow through our county's 125 year history. There are special activities for children. It is very accessible from I-90. The view of Big Goose Valley and the Big Horn Mountains from the front porch is beautiful.

One of the best county museums I have been in. Very well organized, lots of information, great displays. The section on coal was excellently done as was the section on tie flumes. Wonderful models.

We spotted the museum as we came off the interstate into Sheridan and decided that would be a fine place to spend some time while we waited for our motel room to be readied. What a great find! Not only was the history learned fascinating, it was displayed with great care and consideration. Especially interesting were the dioramas created to depict various Sheridan time snapshots....truly a labor of devotion. The museum is not large but captivating and there is a small fee for admission. We enjoyed the welcoming nature of the staff and the local banter between them and residents. There is a gift/souvenir section to commemorate the visit. All in all, we were delighted we selected the Sheridan County Museum to engage our time.
