We rented ATV's for a self-guided day of riding. The man manning the office that day showed us the in's and out's of the machines, how to avoid having them charge us for new ATV's, and then went over all sorts of cool destinations for us. We spent 8 hours riding around, and luckily, he had also given us an extra tank of gas as a reserve (which we ended up using, allowing us to go even further). Wouldn't hesitate to come here again - cheaper than anywhere in JH and the trails are incredible. The drive down from Jackson is gorgeous, too.

We loved our atv ride. The scenery was gorgeous. We especially loved the old abandoned cabin on the trail and the big open field. I definitely recommend booking this if your traveling near jackson. You won't regret it.

A full day guided horseback ride was the highlight of our recent trip to Jackson Hole. Three things made it special: the scenery, the horses, and our guide. In truth, the first two were only possible because of our guide, Rob Hill, whose deep knowledge and love of both the mountains and his horses was apparent from the very start. Rob met us at the "office" on highway 89 just south of Alpine with the horses already saddled and trailered. We drove a short way into the Palisades roadless area in the Snake River Range between Idaho and Wyoming and set out from the trail head. On the way we chatted about the area and what we wanted out of the day- this sets Rob apart from other local outfits which have a set trail route. My husband is quite tall, and neither of us are experienced riders, but the horses Rob matched us with were exceptional. Rob and Stacie's web site mentions that their horses are smooth-gaited Tennessee or Missouri walking horses, but this doesn't begin to describe what a pleasure they were to ride and how sure-footed they were along rocky trails and going up and down steep canyons in the back country. We spent 8 hours in the saddle that day, and rode through the most breathtaking scenery of our trip. Even as novice riders, we were able to see peaks and valleys by horseback that we would never have reached as hikers. Rob and his family have been riding these mountains for generations, and his stories and anecdotes were an unexpected joy.

Ive been in Jackson 3 winters , for the first time we spend 8 days in summer . made reservations with Jackson hole recreations for ATV and Horseback ride ... was a little scary at first for the first time riding a horse the trail was not the usual you get in most places , this was real backcountry , hills up/down , creek , views , wildlife . The guide was very knowledge, I felt safe even I took my youngest sister (12) on the ride, After 5 min on the horse I stooped worrying and started enjoying the ride and place .you can feel the confidence this wonderful animal had ( the horse , not the guide) Unfortunately ride was a little short cause by my request we came back early as my daughter and wife stayed in the truck (daughter(9) was scared of the horse)The best of doing business with this guys , it is not a big company with lots of employers . You will get directly attention from the owners For sure I would do it again ..

If you want to have a day of fun on new well cared for ATV's, this is the place for you. The rental price for ATV's is more than fair, the equipment is clean, new, well cared for. The location is perfect, far enough from Jackson hole that you can ride. The office is about 1/4 mile from the park The owners are nice, caring, professional. They gave us a map of the area and orientation so that we knew how to run the ATV's. The location is easy to find and plenty of parking. Take plenty of snacks for a picnic lunch. The national park is large enough, you may not see anyone all day. Plenty of scenery, trails, roads, water and mud. Something for everyone. We will definitely rent here again the next time we are in town.

I have experienced the "head to tail" tourist trail-ride in the past and my wife and I were hoping to find something a little more exciting to give our two teenage daughters a memorable experience while in the Tetons. Rob and Stacey Hill exceeded all of our expectations with a 1/2 day trail-ride that was the highlight of our stay in this area.The reservation process was straightforward. A phone call to Stacey Hill, who was polite and professional enough to return my call when I got disconnected. A little information between the two of us and an email confirmation was received from her within 10 minutes. The email confirmed all our reservations and included driving directions.We arrived about 15 minutes early. Don't expect a fancy or elaborate office. The office has some hand-painted signs and is very small. Do not let this deter you! You will only be here for a few minutes. Check-in was simple and straightforward. Stacey had everything ready for us and handed out a generous supply of snacks and drinks for our ride.Our guide, Rob Hill arrived on time and was ready to go. I'll let Rob fill you in on his bio, but I can tell you that horses have been a part of this family for a long time. We found Rob to be very easy going with a great sense of humor. A true cowboy and rodeo rider. After just a couple of minutes we were confident that he knew what he was doing and he did a very good job and making everyone feel comfortable.Our party consisted of four riders, all with different skill levels. I had grown-up trail-riding and showing horses, my two daughters (15 and 17) had ridden just once before and my wife had never been on a horse in her life. Mr. Hill did a very good job at pairing the right horse to the rider and at helping us pick a location that would be scenic enough for the experienced rider but gentle enough for the new rider. One of the things I noted about this process was that our guide was willing to go where WE wanted to go. We had several options to chose from and he did a very good job at explaining what to expect from each. We chose a canyon ride not far from us, a decision that ended up being perfect for our party. The horses were already loaded and a short ride in Rob's dusty truck took us to the trail-head.While making a few last minute stirrup adjustments, Mr. Hill gave a few simple instructions designed to keep everyone safe. Nothing overbearing though, and certainly no long lecture about the importance of keeping together and so on. Rob stated several times that this was OUR trail ride and that he was just the guide. If we wanted to stop, we stopped. If we wanted pictures, that's what we would do.Though we had selected a "gentle" trail for our ride, don't think that it wasn't exciting! While there were no extremely steep grades, it did have creek crossings, dense forest, trails along deep ravines and scenery that only a poet can describe. It should be noted that this was not a "tourist" ride with old horses that slogged along behind a college-kid guide earning money through the summer. The horses given to us were well mannered and well suited for their individual riders, easy to control even by the new riders. Each of the horses belonged to a family member as a personal horse, with our guide mounted on a horse he had personally broken just a few months previous. He called his horse "Shark" because he allegedly liked to come at him early in his training with his mouth open like a shark. Rob was pretty funny when he explained that if he ended up in a run through the woods not to panic, just wait and he would be back. I think he might have exaggerated just a little....We rode through a gorgeous canyon setting. The trail was itself was not strenuous, though there was some up and down grades to keep it interesting. Parts of the trail rode along the edge of a beautiful ravine, and at all times the views of the mountains on both sides kept changing. We took a snack break deep in the canyon and enjoyed the silence, scenery, and conversation with Mr. Hill. We did not see any wildlife on our ride with the exception of a mountain goat, but others may have a different experience. We had been given bear instructions before the ride, and Mr. Hill was equipped with both a revolver and rifle. Our location was remote and gave you the feeling that you could easily come across deer or moose around any corner.Our ride was an experience that the family will enjoy and talk about for many years. This was not a "head to tail" trail-ride for tourists by any means and our guide did an outstanding job at making sure that it did not become one. In our case, Mr. Hill always rode just close enough to be there if you needed him but far enough ahead to allow you to experience the ride. When Rob sensed that our group was enjoying the scenery he would say nothing and ride ahead to allow everyone to enjoy the experience without interference from him. Other times, he kept us entertained by pointing out spots where something exciting had happened to him (usually by him doing something that admittedly he probably shouldn't have been doing).If you are looking for a chance to enjoy the experience of a "true" trail-ride, I would highly recommend Rob and Stacey Hill. Mr. Hill was a professional guide in all respects and understood exactly what experience we had been hoping for. If you give Mr. Hill an honest account of your expectation I believe that he will work hard to help you attain it. I don't believe that you will be disappointed! My family has been going to swan valley Idaho for the 4th of July for a couple of years now. We have never had so much fun as when we rented ATVs from Jackson hole rec. Owner Stacey Hill was very nice, organized and knowledgeable of the equipment. They accommodated our large party of 8. Scenery was was beautiful. I used to ride in Arizona as a kid, but that was 50 years ago. Still, I don't like those tourist rides where your horse pays no attention to you and you're one of a string of 20 riders, no matter how pretty the country. But we found Rob and Stacey, a couple of real horse people - Rob is a champion roper and was wearing a belt buckle to prove it - and they took me, my husband and our 18-year-old son out for a half-day ride, and it was a glorious experience. We were riding their family horses, so the horses listened and obeyed us when we turned, stopped, backed up, etc. Rob has the stories of growing up in this area and living the rodeo life, kept us entertained all the 7 miles up a beautiful, completely wild canyon. We didn't see much big wildlife but the butterflies and the birds were wonderful. A half-day was plenty - we stopped and dismounted for a half-hour, I fed my palomino ride ("Slim Pickens") long meadow grass, we had snacks - and by the time we got back I was stiff and very, very happy. Highly recommend! You'll have to drive to Alpine (south of Jackson), but do it! Your kids will be in awe of a real cowboy with a real six-shooter (bear protection) on a real painted stallion Rob broke himself whose name varies, but the politest of which are "Jackass" and "The Shark"!
