What can I say. The Comal River is just that! A river, a body of water. Nothing special just sitting in an inner tube floating and people watching.

My son loved the tube shoot at the Comal. This is a great low cost alternative to expensive parks, and he had just as much fun.

we love the Comal, but since the can ban was lifted, Saturdays are a nightmare. We will stick to weekdays from now on.

Out for an evening stroll by the Comal river. A buetiful place anytime of the year. The water is so clear.

I came for my first open water scuba dive here. The river is clean and clear and there's a lot to see. There's a nice park area with grills. Even in February on a sunny day there were other divers, kayakers, sup boarders, lots to do. Can't wait to come back and tube down.

My wife and I usually make it a point to come out at least once every other weekend during the Spring / Summer / Early Fall. There's something about a lazy river float taking up 3-4 hours (if you do it right and enjoy the 'parking areas') and leaving your cares behind for an afternoon that's fantastic. They recently overturned the 'can ban', so bring your 12 packs in a small cooler (no styrofoam) and enjoy the afternoon. I've done this float so many times I've lost count, and most of them without alcohol. Even Gatorades and a few sandwiches on the river are a great alternative - but don't forget the Pringles! Seriously though - check it out. And if you can, drop it at Either LRT or Texas Tubes. I used to frequent Chuck's a lot, but they no longer have the shuttle and you have to walk to Texas Tubes to launch anyway.

Great family fun. About a 2 hr float. Come during the week or after school starts and avoid crowds and enjoy the peace. Go to Schlitterbahn while here.

The Comal is a great river to float if you don't want to be on the water all day. The average float takes between 2-4 hrs depending on where you put in. With no more can ban any beverage is ok just please don't trash the river. There are quite a few eateries within walking distance and all are pretty good. When the weather is warm the week ends can get very crowded...midweek is better.

The Comal is a beautiful spring fed and clean river. Water is cold, but nice in the heat of summer. There is not a lot of parking so it's best to be dropped off at Landa park. The length of float time depends on water levels and flow. Keep valuables in watertight floatable containers, wear cheap glasses and use an extra tube for cooler. We go every year as a family trip. The crowds have made it less fun over the years...check your dates before you go.

We went on yet another little weekend excursion this time to the Comal River to tube. We did not go on a major holiday so it was not crowded. This was our first time and good fun. I did learn a few things though. Get at least one extra tube with a bottom to hold your stuff whether it be a cooler with beverages, your shoes etc., Have a designated driver, I have never seen such a high concentration of police in a small town. Evidently word got out you might drink when you float. This is easy: Book a room, book a tube, float!

Wow you can tell that Texans really appreciate a good creek. They apparently don't have many because half of Bexar County must have been on this little spring fed stream when we floated. Lots of young people having a good time with coolers filled with beer. It was not as rowdy as you would suspect but it was crowed. Don't expect an outdoors experience the little river traverses through a residential area in New Braunfels next to the Schlitterbahn Water Park. It was nice and cool on a hot day but I sure wouldn't want to test the bacteria count after all that beer drinking. Did it once and that was enough.

There is no parking at the Comal River to go tubbing or access the river. We live here in New Braunfels and we gave up this year on tubbing because everytime we packed our stuff and drove over there, we could never find a parking space.

What a relaxing way to spend 3 hours. We floated the Guadalupe using Rockin R tubes. Be sure to wear water shoes and get a tube with a bottom. Make sure the bottom has all the straps attached or you will be scooping up rocks. You may not have that problem if the water is high. We floated during drought and the river was low and slow. Still a fun time - bring a small cooler. Beautiful scenery.
