My grandmother has taken her grandkids here since the 60's. We would stop at the Mrs. Baird's Bakery Store to have bread to toss out to the little p-dogs. Pretty sure there is no longer a store at Mrs. Baird's . . . but there are several day-old places to stop and grab a loaf!

Even though they are a landscaping nightmare, these little creatures are a pleasure to watch. This is a free attraction, and offers quite a bit of entertainment. If you have small children, they will especially enjoy these animal antics!

Great fun and adorable! This is the very best place to visit in Lubbock! Be sure to bring some cut up apples or carrots to toss out for them.

We live in Wolfforth (about 20 miles away), and we come to Prairie Dog Town occasionally on Saturday/Sunday afternoons. My boys (10 and 5) LOVE to feed the prairie dogs french fries! It's funny to watch the prairie dogs as they "bark" at each other and fight over the fries. It's worth a quick stop, especially if you have kids.

This is a cute exhibit within MacKenzie State Park. You can stand behind a concrete wall and watch a large number of prairie dogs burrowing and running around. A small exhibit provides some details about their lifestyle. After about 15 minutes, our attention was waning.

You may have travelled all over the world, but you have never been to a prairie dog town! It is like swimming with dolphins , like the monkeys of Gibraltar, okay not quite, but it is little varmints in captivity, little kids love it.

If you have the time its worth a quick visit. The little guys are really hard to photograph but fun to watch. This is another free attraction in Lubbock.

While visitors can see prairie dogs all around town, they are pretty much guaranteed to see them here. We like to take folks out there just because it has been around for a long time and the prairie dogs appreciate the popcorn.

Prairie dog town needs a face lift but it is a great place to watch the prairie dogs play. Bring a bag of popcorn, M&M's or McDonalds French fries and watchthem come out of their holes.

This is a fun and worthwhile stop. I thought my son was joking when he said he was taking us to Prairie Dog Town. But that is what it is, a small dirt area occupied by Prairie Dogs. If you haven't seen them before, this is worth going to. The little kids that were there watching the prairie dogs were really entertained. I think the prairie dogs were probably just as entertained watching the humans!

The Prairie Dog Town is located in MacKenzie Park in Lubbock, TX. They are so cute. They have many tunnels.

Prairie dogs are a rarity for me. We don't really have them out in California, so it was a definite treat to visit Prairie Dog Town. Plus, such a cute story behind it's creation! Definitely a fun stop!
