We went to see Once! at the Hobby Center. If you go, make reservations to the restaurant located in the Hobby Center called Artista. You have to make reservations and it's worth it. Get there early avoid the traffic have a glass of wine, dinner and go to the show. We really enjoyed the show.

Well passing through Houston we went to the theater and saw the musical Kinky Boots. We love the show and thought the theater was beautiful. There were people from all walks of life coming together to watch live theater. We were able to go online to the theater's website and buy two tickets on the aisle in the sixth row of the orchestra the day before the performance. The seats were great.

Loved the show, loved the theater. Very clean and comfy. Very packed theater, but seemed to handle it well. Dont try to get a drink; long wait and pricey.

I took my students to this place for a field experience and they enjoyed it. The seating was great, you could still see the stage from high above. I will definitely go back to this place for other performance!

We went to see the Rockettes - opening night - at the Hobby center. It was a great performance and a really great venue. The center is layed out in such a way that after the perfromance, we were able to enjoy the ambiance of the crowd and decor from the upper levels....and then again in the lower.Great treat for the kids to experience. There is a parking garage located down the street just behind the center (if you are in front of the Hobby Center, turn right onto Walker to access the garage). The night we went, the garage was full so we parked in the massive underground garages of the theater district.

I have seen 10+ musicals at the Hobby Center and it is great to see musicals here! My favorite musicals have been Wicked, Jersey Boys and Book of Mormon. The views are good even from the balcony. Sitting up close is nice as well. The prices compared to other cities are very reasonable. Highly recommend going here!

I took my mother to see the radio city rockettes. The facility was great. Every seat had a grand view of the performance.

This review is for the (Radio City Music Hall “Rockettes” Christmas Spectacular) in the Hobby Theater ~ Dec 2014. The Hobby parking garage filled up fast and was full 45 minutes prior to the show starting. This is the norm for Hobby Theater and other shows I have been to. I did noticed the Hobby was still accepting valet parking all the way up to the start of the show. The police tried to keep anyone from dropping off on the front street. We opted to park underground and walk to the Hobby venue. If you want a burger (etc.) the Hard Rock Café (HRC) is within walking distance and if you want to skip the HRC wait-line go to: www.hardrock.com/px/default.aspx?selLocation=HOUSTON to request Priority Seating before you get to the café. Make sure you tell the HRC you already requested Priority Seating when you go in. As for Hobby, they have a (pricey) restaurant/bar in Hobby. No reservations were needed for the bar in their restaurant. During the show we sat in Row G Seats 1 and 2; these seats were very nice (see the attached notes on the good and bad seats). Overall the Rockettes were very good. The only down side to this particular show was at the very end; they should of had a more climactic culmination that would of left the audience with a feeling of the holiday spirit and Christmas...

We saw the Radio City Christmas Spectacular for the second time - first at Radio City a couple of years ago. It was a great show as expected, but since this about the venue, I will stick to it. Because it is a modern theatre, they incorporated all of the nice to haves not found in most theatres. The restrooms are many and large. Rows have lots of leg and walking room, and although a large spread out theatre, views are still great from everywhere. It isn't as deep as Radio City Music Hall, so we saw a lot more detail of the show sitting in the first row of the balcony than we did in Radio City's orchestra farther back.If you opt for a box, the mezzanine boxes look like they have great views, but the balcony boxes look a little high up and close. The Theatre Under the Stars is a cool effect looking up at the ceiling.

We saw the noon matinee and it was fantastic. We arrived 35 minutes early and found ample parking in the garage for 10.00. They do have valet if you have people unable to walk very far. We had seats on row A of center mezzanine and loved it. However, there were about 15 steps going down to row A which was difficult for my 80 yr old parents. If you have seniors, go for orchestra seating as its all ramps to the seats, not stairs. They have bars and snacks available for purchase. If you buy their souvenir Tuts cup with a lid on it you can take your cocktail to your seat. Or bottled water. The Artiste restaurant is also inside on the second level and looked lovely. The Rockettes were fantastic. A beautiful way to get in the Christmas spirit. Enjoy!!

We saw The Rockettes, here and it was awesome! We loved it. Doesn't look like there is a bad seat in the house. Love the set up here.

We see shows at the Hobby Center multiple times a year and it is an excellent theatre and shows Houston can compete with New York. Parking is easy - it's $10 self park behind the enter and or $20 to valet. Self park as the valet takes time after the show. The theatre itself is beautiful and not small nor enormous; it is perfect for a show. Excellent sound, staffing and overall an exception venue.

We attended the Radio City show and sat in Row L Seats 11 and 12. These are very close to our season tickets in row M seats 5 & 6. The Hobby Center is a very good show venue. The onsite $10 parking garage is easily accessed from I45 via Rusk. It has 800 spaces and we have never had a problem with getting a space 30 minutes before show time. Late arrivers should have an alternate plan. The gift shop has nice theater selections, but for Radio City there were separate kiosks set up in the lobby selling only show related material. We bought a Rockettes Christmas ornament. Restrooms are clean and spacious. They seem to be big enough to limit the lines that are a problem at other venues. Our seats for this show were not ideal. They were the end two seats in row L. They are excellent in that they are very close to the stage, but they are so far left you cannot see the left edge of some scenes. Our season ticket seats just a few seats to the right do not have this problem. The Radio City show uses every inch of stage space and overflows forward so they obstruct the orchestra pit and are forced to used a record score. The Hobby Center is also home of the Artista Restaurant. It is run by Cordua which also runs the Churrascos and Americas restaurants. Prices and menu items are similar, so we sometimes enjoy a meal before or after a show. The staff is aware of show times and will pace service accordingly.

I recently saw the touring Radio City Music Hall Christmas Spectacular here, We were seated in the Center Mezzanine and the seats had a good view of the stage for most of the scenes, although for some of the scenes the angle/perspective would have been better from the Orchestra section. Sound was not an issue (microphones).A couple of things I did not like so much:(1) Parking at the Hobby Center was full and this was not indicated until just before the parking. I am not sure if this is a regular occurrence or was a one-off due to other events going on in the area. Suggest you have a back-up plan for parking in mind just in case.(2) A number of people arrived late throughout the first half of the show before the intermission and were seated during a number of the scenes.

The Hobby Center provides a wonderful venue for showcasing Broadway performances (in this case, the Rockettes' Christmas Show). Seating is comfortable, with good views of the stage from almost every seat. The sound system is excellent, providing a good balance between the live orchestra and on-stage performance. Vocals are clear and crisp; music sounds solid - no tinny reproduction here! Ushers are all volunteers and very courteous. Patrons arrive dressed in everything from tuxedos and evening wear to jeans and boots - after all this is Texas! All are welcome and treated with respect. Pick any show - you'll not be disappointed with Houston's Hobby Center for the Performing Arts.
