I've spent several camping trips at Krause Springs. The good: the springs are WONDERFUL... so cool, so pretty, and very inviting. The bad: there is no noise ordinance, and some people are rude and listen to their music all night long. It's not like at a State Park where people are generally much more courteous. Additionally, as there are no sites, people might set up a tent right next to you, and the prices are steep. But, you don't need reservations, so for a last-minute getaway, it's GREAT.

Nice and clean. Lots of places to hang out by the water. You never feel like you're stuck with a bunch of other people. Maybe family owned? Great getaway

Thanks for coming and visiting our springs and camping out with us! Our main draw to Krause Springs are the springs and pools themselves. We offer camping to those who wish to stay overnight in a tent or RV and want to enjoy the property more than just 1 day. I'm not sure what you mean by "not calling what we offer here camping." I'm sure every camping experience is different from the last, but by definition it is indeed called camping, no matter what part of the country you're from.We try to maintain the cleanliness of the springs as best as we can with our limited staffing, and I apologize if the standards for camping bathrooms were not met. We try to make our rounds throughout the day on the property, but also wish to provide our guests with privacy during their visit.I hope next time you visit, it is a more enjoyable experience as you now know what to expect. Please email me any other details about your trip that you feel might help improve the overall camping experience at Krause Springs: kyle@krausesprings.net Thanks again for visiting!

We live in the area and try to spend as much time as possible at Krause. In the HOT Texas summer months, it's the absolute best place to spend a day. The water is cool, the people are super friendly, you can bring your own coolers, and the Cypress trees are just gorgeous. It does get crowded, so get there early to get the best spots! You can thank me later :-)

Great place to cool off. Be sure to go early it gets crowded fast. The kids had a blast jumping off the cliff and swinging off the rope.

We arrived on a Mon afternoon after spending the morning zipling. We were hot & ready to cool. We did not receive the same reception as previous reviewer at all. The lady at the front was very nice & chit chatted with us for a bit. First we walked the garden, which I really loved. The giant windchimes are awesome! The bathrooms were nice. We skipped the pool & went straight to the natural area & swimming hole. Make sure you go down the stone stairs instead of the metal stairs. The area is really pretty! Water was pretty chilly. There is a little "cave" behind the waterfall. Saw lots of turtles & fish. The rocks are VERY slippery, be careful! We didn't stay as long as we would have liked (hunger was kicking in) but as we headed out, the lady up front said bye & again was very nice. Very enjoyable time.

When we arrived we weren't sure if where we parked was the right place because we didn't notice any sign above the entrance area. Once we parked we went inside to be greeted, if you even want to call it that, by a staff member. When we walked in she did not acknowledge us so I had to say hello to her when we walked up to pay. When we were paying it seemed like she was slamming the cash box around. It seemed like she wasn't having a good day and wasn't happy to be there. I had a few questions to ask her and she wasn't happy to answer them. After we left the grumpy staff member, we were greeted by the pool. There were a lot of kids and families in the pool so we went down to the natural spring. This was the best part. Although quite cold, it was warmer than the greeting we were given by the staff member. We slipped getting into the water and basically slid into the water. While swimming over to the waterfall there were quite a few huge rocks that we ran into. We stubbed our toes a few times on the rocks and hit our knees but didn't get too badly hurt. The waterfall was gorgeous. We sat on the rocks under the waterfall for a while and took it all in. After we got out of the spring we walked around the grounds. The garden area was nice but seemed a little unkept. It smelled delightful though. When were leaving we still weren't acknowledged by the staff member so we said goodbye to her. I don't think you should pay $7 per person if the staff is going to be so grumpy. If it wasn't for the natural spring being so beautiful I wouldn't have even rated this place a 3. I know we weren't there for the staff but I would still expect them to treat us nicely.

We spent a Day at Krause Springs. Its just beautiful and relaxing to be out there. But watch out the rocks can be slippery specially when coming out of the water. Take a walk in the Garden and relax in the hammocks.

Cool, clean water on a hot day in Texas is always nice, but Krause Springs was a real treat! Both the swimming pool and swimming hole is fed by 30+ natural springs. There are several tables scattered throughout the area for picnic lunches and a large, clean shower facility. Two things to consider before going: 1) bring cash for admission, and 2) wear water shoes/socks that provide good traction (slippery rocks!). Also, bring a camera—the site is beautiful! There is also an RV park and camping section.

Hi, I would like to apologize for any actions taken by our staff that made you feel unwelcome. I would like to clear up any misunderstanding regarding our property and procedures.Firstly, we don't search the vehicles of our guests, however we will check to make sure there's no additional people inside, since our fees are per person. We have had several instances where folks try to sneak other's in, especially later in the evening, and we have zero tolerance for such actions. We've seen it all, with people hiding in the floorboards and under equipment, so if you had lots of items in your vehicle and parked in a darker spot, our staff member might have thought it was another person. Especially if you were traveling solo, since most guests come in groups of 2 or more.Second, we never have hot showers. Our showers are fed by the same spring water that flows through our pools, which are always at 68 degrees. There's no reason any staff member should use those exact words you posted.Lastly, I'm sorry you had a less than enjoyable experience on your first day/night in Central Texas. It sounds like you had a rough day with work, going to the ER and other medical issues, and perhaps camping might not have been your best option. Our property has been family owned for over 50 years and we have been welcoming the public here for almost just as long. We want everyone to feel welcome while here and anything less is unacceptable. If you have time to elaborate more on your experience, or can go into further detail about your interaction with our staff member, and the searching of your car, please email me at kyle@krausesprings.net

I do think this can be a great thing for couples or families you just have to be prepared. My husband and I went to Krause Springs with our friends and their 2 and 5 year olds. Make sure you bring cash to pay the entrance fee. It's a beautiful spot but if your bringing your kids you might want to bring floats and things for then to play on because there is usually only a small space with shallow water ideal for smaller (toddler) aged kids. Everyone should bring water shoes it just makes it easier. I had forgotten mine so it was a bit slippery but I managed. When you're walking through the water there are big rocks that you can't see so you have to be careful. There are plenty of tables and places for families to hang out. The rope swings and cliffs to jump off are great even if you are just watching. We didn't win in the man made pool but it looked nice-kinda small. The giant trees are also cool to look at. This is a true Texas experience :)

Having been there, Meredith R's review is right on the money. As she said, they only accept cash, so come prepared. The also don't allow dogs or glass bottles. For beauty, I'd give the place 5 out of 5 stars. My wife spent a bit of time wandering the garden taking pictures. It was pretty. From there we made our way down to the bath house/restrooms to change. I was told to go down and to the left. It would have been more accurate to say go down until you can go left, then go left right away. The bath house is below where they take your money, but higher than most other structures. Even then, it's rather small.Once changed, we made our way down to the natural pool. What the other reviewers have said about it being slippery is very, very true. It's dry, but very smooth. We both slipped just getting to the water. We found a good place to enter the water from the left side as you are facing the waterfall and cave behind it. The bottom is mostly sand and it is a fairly gentle slope.I can not emphasize this enough: BRING AND WEAR SWIMMING SHOES. Even the sandy part had rocks. Further, the water was very green and there were rocks hidden under the water. Swim slowly. Some rocks are shallow, some deeper, with sudden drop-offs. While most of the rocks are smooth and slippery, although pitted, one or two I was warned by fellow swimmers are sharp. They cut themselves on them.I did make it to the cave and waterfall. In the cave I was standing on something that wasn't rock, but wasn't sand either. It felt plant like. Twice I felt something nip at my feet. It didn't hurt, but it did startle me. There are turtles in there. My swim ended when I nailed my shin on a rock despite trying my best not to do that. It drew blood, but wasn't a serious injury.I'd like to give this a 5 star, but for all the beauty here, it is very easy to injury yourself. If you're not steady on your feet, stay away! I was told by a local that the water gets green (and harder to see the rocks) around July 4th, so come before that if you can.

we arrived on Sunday morning to checking first thing in the morning. We found a good shady spot close walk to the spring and pool. Tent camp ground has not electric outlet, bathroom close by, large metal picnic tables, stone benches. we have our own grill. There are some on the camp ground for use but not next to the tent camping area. Burn ban did not allow bonfire, you can rent a big barrel from the front office for around $10 and buy firewood. We spent one night and 2 days on the campus. There were very little mosquito but plenty of bees! We saw the spring and waterfall online and decided to hike down to see. We were disappointed as the water was warm and dirty! The water look stagnant. The surrounding boulders were very slippery, please be careful & were some water shoes. The area was trashy and standing puddles of water was a bit gross. I even saw food and used diapers. The waterfall is coming down from the spring feed pool directly on top. There were water pumps that flow the water down to make the waterfall, wasn't natural as I envisioned. The kids did love the pool. The water was constantly circulate and pump so it was clean. The water is super cold but very refreshing! The pool is large and has a water fall wall at the deep end where the kids could jump. This was the only spot where my kids want to spend their time. The place did get pretty crowded even on a Sunday with day users coming in. There are plenty of tables and grills for everyone to use. The butterfly garden was pretty and has huge wind chimes to rings like church bells. The place has good breeze coming thru and heat was dry so it was very manageable. 2nd day:The creek/spring area is still dirty. Trash and food were not picked up and water is very muddy and still warm. Now for the bathrooms. There a few bathrooms on the campground but not very well maintained. 2 shower stalls, 2 commodes, 2 sinks in the bathroom by the office. One sink clogged up most of the time I was there. There were plenty of toilet paper on the day I arrived but on the 2nd day it looks like no one tended to the bathroom. We would return maybe in early fall. We hope to enjoy the spring more if it gets cleaned up.

To maximize your fun at this beautiful natural wonder and minimize the likelihood of frustration, injuries, and other misfortunes, please read my carefully thought-out list of do's and don't's for Krause Springs.Do:-Bring cash. It costs $7 per person for the day and they only accept cash. But change is made out of a cash box on the Krause family's porch. -Expect crowds on the weekends. Further, expect a diverse crowd. You may see topless women and you may see prison tattoos. -Swim slowly and with a hand out in front of you. I banged my knees on some unexpected rocks.-Remember your floats. They have an air pump near the parking lot to blow up your floats.-Put your head all the way underwater as soon as you get in the pool. That's the only way to get used to the cool 68 degree water.Don't:-Wear flip flops. Wear river sandals (i.e. Tevas) or water shoes instead. You could easily twist/sprain/break an ankle traversing the rocks with flip flops on.-Show up buzzed. Getting down to the natural pool can be challenging and requires all senses to be sharp. -Forget your sunscreen. But there's plenty of shade all around the place.-Expect to snorkel. The water gets murkier and murkier as more people get in and stir everything up.-Bring glass (duh). You can bring your food and beverages of choice, as long as there's no glass involved. There are plenty of picnic tables, or if you're brave like us, you can haul your cooler down to the natural pool.Overall, Krause Springs is a great way to spend a hot Saturday, as long as you prepare. Otherwise, it could easily turn from adventure to misadventure.

We have been going to KS for about 10 years. The staff is always kind and the water is beautiful and refreshing. Yes, the rocks are slippery. I reccomend wearing grippy water shoes. Scenery and waterfalls are gorgeous. One if my happy places. Could go here every day except we live in Houston.
