My wife, daughter and I stopped by for a wine tasting this weekend and had a great time. We tasted the most amazing Texas wine, a 2012 Estate Petite Syrah. Prior to our visit, I thought there was no Texas wine I would buy over a California wine. I can tell you this visit changed my opinion. You can that this family run business is building itself from the ground up and that they have plans to continue growing at a pace they can manage. I look forward to seeing where Margaret and her family can take Westcave over the coming years. We joined the wine club to be able to share in this future!

Thanks for writing such a wonderful review, Elizabeth! We are thrilled that you enjoyed your visit after a hike to Hamilton Pool. There are currently 15 wines on the menu, so there should be something for every palate. I also appreciate the shout out to the host, BK, and will pass along the kind words. We hope you will visit again on your next Hill Country visit.

WOW, Michael! THANK YOU for your kind words. We always hope that visitors enjoy the experience AND take away a deeper understanding and knowledge of wine. I can't even begin to tell you how happy it makes me to hear that you felt like a guest in my kitchen!!! This kind of visit makes my job so rewarding, meaningful, and FUN! Cheers and safe travels!

Thank you for taking the time to write! I love getting reviews from an experienced traveler, because there is a broad base of knowledge to compare with when reviewing. Westcave Cellars is a relatively new winery, just three years old, and we feel that we are improving with each vintage. I hope you will visit again in another year or two, especially after we get the Estate wines on the menu.

I work on a field based sales team of 14. We were in Austin for a Retail Sales Event through Dell. Our team was exploring Texas on Thursday, March 6th. We enjoyed several wonderful places. Our first stop was at Franklins BBQ. After we indulged in glorious food, we were off to the Hills of Texas to take in Westcave Cellars. The owners opened up a tasting specifically for our group. It was absolutely fabulous. We learned about all of the wines offered, the differences in how they are created, stored and sold. After our education piece, we were encouraged to grab our favorite glass from the tasting and head out to explore the vineyard. It was a gorgeous sunny day, a wonderful glass of wine in tow and nothing but great laughs, great wine and a great time. I would recommend this winery for anyone! Honestly it was so peaceful and who can go wrong with a great glass of wine. The name of my favorite is escaping me as I am writing this but it is the most popular seller and also the least expensive. I trust you will all enjoy Westcave! Book your tasting now ;)

We showed up unannounced around 4:30pm with a large group and they were very friendly and accommodating. There was plenty of seating outside under the trees and luckily the weather was cooperative. The tasting was extensive and we got a great education about all the wines. The varieties I usually prefer were excellent. Great laid back mom & pop operation with very knowledgeable staff/owners. The perfect end to a amazing day in the hill country.

We probably wouldn't have known to visit this particular winery if it hadn't been for our "Heart of Texas" tour guide, Annie. This Round Mountain, TX, picturesque spot is located about 25 minutes from Austin, and situated among the Texas countryside southern oaks and scrub grass of Hamilton Pool Road. In late December, upon driving into its rustic, rural premises, one is wonderfully transposed into a Tuscany-like landscape with multiple rows of dormant grape vines and a massive, Italian-styled stucco warehouse. Warmly greeted by owner, Margaret, we received cheerful, welcoming attention and were nicely seated at an intimate wine-tasting table for 6. Margaret relayed a bit about the winery's "startup history," and adeptly guided us on her various wine selections, equally capable of explaining the ingredients for what was in each served bottle. Enhancing our awareness, she reminded that everyone’s olfactory senses and taste buds perceive wine in a slightly different way. We tasted the lighter, sweeter wines first and then the heavier, dryer red wines last. Upon our departure, Margaret nicely presented us with its 6 winery-logo wine glasses au gratis and, so we 5 family members decided to bestow them upon our Nashville, TN, guest as the lucky recipient. This is definitely a winery we'd choose to return to ~ make it a delightful stop of yours, too!

I concur with everything that has been said by previous reviewers. My wife and I stopped in earlier this year, and felt at home from the moment we stepped in the door. We have generally had good winery experiences, but Margaret (Westcave owner) is the friendliest person we've ever met. Their wines are fantastic, which provided the clincher for us to join their wine club. Westcave Cellars loves their customers and wine club members, and it shows!

Went here to visit a friend working as a hostess (Sophie). Loved the wine and good value for tasting.. $5 for 5 tastes and a glass too! Enjoy a leisurely afternoon under the tres in their backyard overlooking the vineyard.

This was probably the highlight of all the Hill Country wineries my partner and I recently visited. The vineyard itself is quite beautiful as is the tasting room. The woman who handled our tasting was both friendly, helpful, and seemed generally interested in our opinions of the different wines. The wines in general were really quite good! We ended up leaving with two bottles but would have loved to have left with even more. On top of that, the winery includes a souvenir wine glass with the purchase of each tasting. I highly recommend this as a top priority if you are looking to visit a Hill Country winery.

Margaret, the owner, is so friendly. Seemed like we knew her already for yrs. My wife and I stopped in on a Monday afternoon and tasted some enjoyable wine. We even allowed to walk around the grounds and taste a few grapes. We will definitely come back again before the summer is over. This is a great winery to stop in for a taste!

I have to start the review with Westcave's most redeeming value: It was by far the friendliest tasting room I have ever visited. The owner, Margaret, was welcoming from the time I walked in. But, what made this place special is that ALL of the patrons (mostly locals) were all just as friendly. It truly felt like I had just shown-up at a friend's house for a glass of wine. Westcave is still a small operation with the tasting room and production facility only steps away from the family's home. The home and winery are in a nice setting, in the midst of their vineyard. And while the majority of the wines were sweeter than my preference, the Merlot was very nice. Margaret explained that they will have more options to better fit my palate in the next year with several additional red varietals being prepared for their first harvest. While the wines are not yet memorable, the overall experience more than compensated. So, stop in and tell Margaret that I said "hey"

We joined some friends for a two night stay in Marble Falls, TX and used the two days to visit wineries in the local area. One of the places we wanted to visit was the Westcave Cellars. It is well off the beaten path and was quite a drive - only to find the gate closed - apparently I messed up and didn't notice they weren't open on Thursday. But we called their number and the owner said she would come and open the gate, they were preparing for an event, but we were welcome to come in and taste everything they offer! We did, thoroughly enjoyed the wine and the owner - and took some wine home to enjoy later. It's worth the trip - just check to make sure they are open :-)
