Originally an Indian footpath, this 2.5 mile trail weaves through thickets...

I was really looking forward to walk on this creek after looking at the pictures. I asked several local and they told me a place to start on and it was awful. Muddy, dirty, smelly and disgusting. Maybe I wasn't told the best strip or place but I wouldn't bother going there if you knew where are the best parts.

We loved the trail ,well kept path along Lanana creek. If you like to take a 2 to 5 mile hike this is the place for you. We were there in February before most of the beautiful flowers were out and still enjoyed the plants. Holly bushes were gorgeous and plenty of birds to listen to. We walked it twice and enjoyed it both times.

I needed a place for a run while visiting my in-laws and tried out the Lanana Creek Trail. Parts of the trail are paved and flat or wide packed dirt and flat while other areas were a mere foot path barely a foot wide and a couple of places had some steep steps over tree roots. The areas along the park and creek were fairly nice scenery. The soccer and softball complex was nothing too special and kind of dull to run around. The north end of the trail is along an arboretum which seemed nice and I wish I had used more of the side trails into it. Overall a fine trail for running just watch your steps in some of the areas. They do have signs along the way which was the only thing that kept me going in a couple areas where the trail whittled down to nothing. On the other hand, the area in the soccer complex could be more well marked as I missed a couple turns.

My friend and I wanted to kill some time so we walked from pecan park to the soccer fields and back. We were both wearing flip-flops and it wasn't too bad. It's pretty wide and flat for the most part. It took us a little over an hour to walk the whole think and back but it was nice and cool under the trees and walking long the creek was just gorgeous!

You can start from the brick streets downtown and walk along the creek for 3 miles...fairly flat, and quite walk

This is a nice addition to the local community. Parts are paved. Remainder is dirt. Winds thru woods, parks, grassland, meadow, along the creek. Starts in town, ends at the college. Some sections are shaded and others full sun. Bring water! Several entry points. Parking can be difficult. The creek itself is not real attractive, but the surrounding area is beautiful.

You've made the trip to East Texas. You've heard about the great streams and forests and birds. And now you want to experience it! Problem is, you've got less than two hours and are not even sure where to find the public access part of the famous Texas Forest Country. Solution: The Lanana Creek Trail in Nacogdoches. Several trailheads with parking are located right in the heart of Nacogdoches, the Oldest Town in Texas. Degree of difficulty is not bad for experienced hikers. The trail is groomed but not paved. Hint: go from north to south if you like a little gravity assist. Water flows downhill, and so can you.

Although the trail is not difficult, it is several mikes long passing through city parks, winding under roads and ending on the north end in the Mize Azalea Gardens on the Stephan F. Austin University. Take some water too if you intend to walk the whole trail. If I were a jogger staying in Nacogdoches, this would be the place for me.
