elm creek stables

We took two separate groups to the stables and had a blast! Cooter is the best guide and so accommodating. The horses are obviously happy and very tame. We will come back next year!

This was our 4th year in a row going for our annual trail ride while visiting the frio river. This has become a family tradition and such a fun outing. The stables are clean and the horses are happy. They are older horses so they are very calm and familiar with the route. We do make a reservation every year because the trail rides fill up fast. This is a great activity early in the morning (before it is too hot) or late in the day when you are able to see deer on the property. Great family fun

We read about Elm Creek stables in a local attraction magazine and thought it would be great fun for our grandson. The article stated that the ride would be about 2 miles long and last 90 minutes. The cost would be $27.00. Imagine our surprise when we were heading back to the stables after only about 35 minutes. The next shock was the price. $90.00 for the three of us...about $1.00 per minute for each of us! We didn't say anything because we thought perhaps we read an old magazine. After checking the article again, we saw that it was indeed a 2014 magazine. Granted, the most important thing was that our grandson (9 years old) had a great time, but we expected much more. IF you want a short very expensive ride, go ahead, but ask the price and length of time in advance if you want more than a very short ride.
