After trying some of the other "wineries" around grapevine we were disappointed as they were Texas made but with imported grapes. Homestead uses grapes from there Texas vineyard and is a true Texan wine. Usually I am unable to drink commercially make red wines, but I didn't have a problem with any of these as they didn't rush the making which made a great well rounded wine.

This winery is located in an old house which makes it feel very cute and welcoming. The lady who conducted our tasting was very nice and knowledgeable, but there were no chairs to sit in and we felt rushed as she stood and watched us taste each wine. Wish it was a little more relaxed, but the wines were good and it was an enjoyable experience to add to our wine tasting checklist.

Visited before entering Grapefest. Probably not the ideal time, but they were on the outside of the gates and it seemed quite busy.Staff did not seem to fully known their wines. Kept referring to the large board behind them describing all they had. The Ivanhoe Knights is interesting enough to warrant a try.Building is unique with a lot of history. Worth at least one visit, but not many more after that unless you find a wine you like...

We ended up with a 7 hour layover at DWF and happened to end up at the Homestead winery Tasting room! Nice people and nice wines. We really liked the Zin and the Semi Muscat blend white. Unfortunately they don't ship and we can't carry it on. If around, stop by!

This was a great find for us. We loved the flight of red wines and ended with the chocolate rose. We are wine enthusiasts and appreciated Judy's knowledge and advice. This is a must stop with great wine selection!!!

Homestead has not fallen victim, as some of the Highway 290 wineries have, to crass commercialism. Homey, friendly, knowledgeable staff. It was busy, but the staff had time to explain to us oenophiles the wine backgrounds. Decent, Texas-style wines. No, people, they're NOT California wines. Get over it. (In some cases they're actually better, witness recent Pacific Rim best-in-show winner, but that's another food fight, so to speak.) They're also generally of better quality for the price, much more approachable and drinkable than some of the more pretentious mega wineries. Great malbec, tempranillo and zinfandel, was disappointed with the malbec/ruby cab blend. for those who like sweeter wines, they have those, too. Tight quarters in the tasting room, but the porch is homey and there's lots of room outside. Nominal fee for tasting 5 wines.

I'll be honest - Texas wines are pretty awful on average. We have now visited all of the wineries in Grapevine, and these were the best Texas wines we've tasted in Grapevine. They still don't hold a candle to what you could buy for less from California in the grocery store, but they are quite drinkable. The tasting room is located in a quaint little house, and the server seemed pretty knowledgeable. It can get very crowded, though, so I'd try to go when it is not packed - we've turned around, gone shopping, and come back before when tour busses were letting out. It's pleasant when we have the tasting room largely to ourselves. Generous pours on the "tastes" too.

Traveled to Dallas for pleasure and on our last day decided to head to Grapevine and explore. We stumbled across this winery as it was one of the few open on a Monday. So glad it was! The winery is located in a very casual, shabby chic old house. Very welcoming and not pretentious at all. Budget friendly tasting ($7 for 5 tastings) and the pours were quite generous. The owner happened to be our server and provided us with some great education and was happy to answer all of our questions. We had only hoped we were prepared for taking a bottle on the flight home with us!

the staff was very friendly and the wine was very tasty. It was an icy day with slick roads but the staff was still very attentivie.

The price is right - $5 for 4 tastings - but we didn't like any of the first three options and didn't finish the wine. (The only option we liked was not Homestead brand.) It's a historical home, but the benefits are outweighed by the messy decor -- markered notes on the the walls, inventory and boxes sitting all around, mismatched wall hangings. An ok stop if you're going nearby for dinner or looking to kill time, but not worth a seperate trip.

We have been to this winery twice, when visiting Grapevine. We will keep going back, whenever we travel to Grapevine. John is great and makes the wine tasting so much fun. It makes for a great afternoon of wine tasting!

We stopped here on our Wine Tour...not what you would expect when you show up to do a wine tasting! Set up in an old house, it was nice...a little crammed in and disorganized, but the staff was very friendly. More of an eclectic vibe, but their wine was reasonably priced!

Several wines. Very simple and very friendly. Had a wonderful time sampling the wine and love the "Homestead Red"

This is one of the best winery experiences in Grapevine. The service and the selection cannot be beat! We purchased several items in the shop and intend to go back on our next visit.
